Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Supakorn Thanasongtrakul. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Supakorn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
I want customers to feel welcome in my restaurant, so I designed the dining room with decorations to create a warm, cozy environment. I listen to customers’ food comments and modify the menu to include items requested.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
The concept for Banana Leaf was designed by native Thai citizens living in Atlanta to provide customers with authentic Thai cuisine. The same dishes that citizens of Thailand love best. We then decided to elevate those dishes by sourcing some of the ingredients from local suppliers and farmer’s markets. This allows the food we offer to be healthy while helping to support local businesses. We also source a limited number of items directly from Thailand. Another essential aspect of Banana Leaf is that it’s owned by Thai natives who live in Atlanta and are passionate about providing customers with an excellent Thai food experience. That food experience extends to our staff. The majority of our chefs and all our servers are Thai.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Customizing social media content to reflect the business is important to attract and retain followers. I frequently update platforms to inform followers on important developments at Banana Leaf, such as adding new dishes to the menu and adjusting business hours to better accommodate customer demand. Don’t let social media content get scale or you’ll lose followers.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients has been our existing clients telling their friends about the restaurant by ‘word of mouth’. We have a great base of recurring clients, so we certainly appreciate them taking the time to talk about their positive experiences at Banana Leaf with their friends.
