Alright, Sunmi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?

When I was younger my mom used to made me try many activities.
For example,
Taekwondo,Hapkido,swimming,drawing,playing pianos..est.
but I never felt like really interested in or good at it,but there’s one time she took me to a dance studio and the moment I took my first dance class I just felt it this what I’m supposed to do! By the time I was only 10 but I’ve never felt that confident and felt so happy.
Because I used to be very a introverted and shy kid. But in a dance class I was very confident and so sure even though it was my first time. And ever since then I still feel the same way. I’m a dancer and performer.

Sunmi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I started to dance when I was 10. And I kept on going from that.
I graduated an Art college (Majoring Dance)in South Korea.
After graduating the college I visited LA.and NewYork for vacation and I fall in love in NewYork’s dance scene and cultures ,so now I’ve been living here for 6years.
I used to teach dance in South Korea but right now I’m more focusing on dancing and performing. Because performing in front of audience is my most specialty and I feel really good about it.
I had a performance with Lil Kim, Asake,Davido.
And many mores to come.
I am really good at expressing myself on the stage and camera.
I’m very sure you’ll enjoy watching my performance and dance visuals.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?

There’s so many shows and performances are happening.
So, I really recommend it to watch these amazing shows. Support their works.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

I am a good dancer /performer but right now I also want to create my own choreography/performance.
I’ve made few choreography myself before but right now I want to work on more of creative my own choreography and performance so I can show my own unique color.
