Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi, I’m Sung Yoo — a multidisciplinary designer. Since childhood, creativity has been an intrinsic aspect of my identity. My educational journey took me through significant milestones. For high school, I was accepted into The Visual Art Center which I attended and graduated from. The program also helped with preparation for design schools. I attended Parsons School of Design in New York and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication Design.
Throughout school, I actively sought diverse professional experiences through a range of various jobs and internships. Every placement was more than just an opportunity in acquiring creative skills; they provided immersive lessons in adaptation, agility, discipline, interpersonal dynamics and most importantly cultivating enduring relationships. Reflecting on this journey, my curiosity has been my guiding compass.
Consistently exposing myself to new disciplines and perspectives, this continues to shape my professional and personal journey and fuels my enthusiasm for innovative problem-solving. Every opportunity, client and project undertaken throughout the years reflects not only the technical skills I’ve developed throughout the year but the significance of relationships I’ve built.
I believe the formula for creative accomplishment involves relentless curiosity, tempered with discipline and a keen power of observation. As my journey unfolds, I hope my experiences inspire emerging creatives. They stand as evidence that the fusion of curiosity, discipline, and insight can illuminate a rewarding and purposeful path in the world of creativity.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
In my experience the ability to cultivate relationships carries a profound impact that often goes beyond a project you’re hired for. By aligning with our core values and honing the skills of active listening and clear communication, we can create a foundation of trust that is remarkably resilient. In my opinion this stands as the most powerful tool for attracting and growing your clientele and fostering enduring partnerships.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
The exploration of self-development and self-awareness has proven to be a powerful asset within my business endeavors. Investing time in understanding self has provided me with tools to approach challenges with clear intentions, leading to harmonious resolutions in various scenarios. This practice has undoubtedly contributed to a positive impact on my business operations and team morale.
