Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sundae Griffin . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Sundae thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s something crazy on unexpected that’s happened to you or your business
Being an entrepreneur is crazy within its self, you literally have to believe in yourself and motivate yourself even when no one is looking. even when you are putting in more risks than you are getting rewards. With all of that being said, during the pandemic i took a leap of faith and fulfilled one of my child hood dreams. i opened a lash bar, full of products, with lash booths and an office. it was one of the the best and worst things ive ever done looking back on it. it taught me so much about myself as a person and a business owner. i executed a plan/dream if had since i was a teenager. in college i sold hair, after college i became a lash technician and a true entrepreneur. before my salon i was a business owner and willing to do what i had to in order to survive. Now, i would consider myself an entrepreneur. i am not attached to one dream, one stream of income or one trick. i am a person of many talents and ways to live the life i desire. the feelings i felt during that time is something i cant describe, ive never felt so fulfilled. i have been trying to get that feeling back for so long. after i closed my salon due to so many things, it taught me what to do next. i know what to do now. one failed business just makes you who you are, a true entrepreneur. between shop drama, unexperienced girls and social media it was truly a recipe for disaster. it was only fair i took a year break to regroup and refocus. now i am back and better than ever, 2023 will be a good year for my brand!
Sundae, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Its funny because most people assume they know me and everything im about. but im a person of many layers, only the people i talk to everyday truly know me. the ones who i keep close to me and call my true friends. but looking at me, your probably right. i am all of those things. but i also realized i am also everything i said i would be and that takes guts! it took a while for me to realize who i am, who i was and who i want to be. i am a statistic, i am a college drop out and im also one of the youngest business owners in my family. i paved a way for girls like me, the girls who always get over looked in hopes they wont figure out who they really are. i figured out who i really am, despite all the times i was overlooked and unlucky. i never gave up, i always remain in my truth and im always looking for new ways to love the life i was given!
Do you have multiple revenue streams – if so, can you talk to us about those streams and how your developed them?
i think the best decision and the most effective way to have multiple streams of income, is if your business can generate multiple incomes. So not only did i own a lash bar, but i sold lash products, lash supplies and i had lash booths. thats three different ways to make money from one source. thats not even including clients i service or lash classes i would host. i also would rent out my lash bar to anyone hosting small events who needed a space. once you have a building or store front, the money will flow to you. especially if your consistent with your brand and market correctly. i mean daily, people need to be seeing who you are and what you have to offer. i moved to a new city and built a whole new following just from networking my salon. i know it may seem annoying to always post, pay for ads and talk about your brand, but it works!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Sugar Glam was only open for a month. this is actually my first time speaking on it publicly, but i know it can help another young entrepreneur. some of the richest people you know, have failed more than once. i moved to a new city, opened a salon in my twenties and really had no experience or mentor to fall back on. just years of pushing my brand and knowing where i wanted it to go. i networked, got funding and had a fully functioning lash bar in no time. My marketing was amazing and i knew my brand was making waves. as the owner, i had to pull the plug. i felt like if anyone was going to ruin my dreams, it will be me. you can have the full package but if the delivery person doesn’t care about the business, you’ll never get the package. A year and a half time off, this year im ready to get back to doing what i love. the doors that are open for me, no man can shut and i will take that with me everyday. this time, will be my best time. you all will just have to wait and see!
