We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Summer Hall a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Summer, thanks for joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
While many studios focus on larger group classes, Pilates Centered emphasizes private or semi-private sessions to provide truly individualized instruction. This personalized touch ensures clients not only achieve their fitness goals but also are cared for in their individual movement needs, everyone has different compensations etc. We emphasize the classical Pilates principles of coordinated breath and precise movement, helping clients connect their mind and body to improve alignment, control, and overall well-being. By setting ourselves apart from the industry standard, we’ve positioned ourselves as leaders in creative, inclusive and above all, SAFE fitness programming.
Testimonial 1: How Pilates Helped Me Heal My Coccyx Injury:
As a former gymnast, I had been dealing with pain from a coccyx injury for years after a bad fall. Sitting for too long, working out, or even just getting through the day was tough, and I was honestly nervous about making it worse by trying the wrong thing. When I found Pilates, my instructor took the time to understand what I was going through. We started with small, gentle movements like pelvic tilts and supported bridges to help me feel more comfortable and begin improving my mobility. As I got stronger, we added Reformer exercises like footwork and side-lying leg work, which helped me build core strength and stabilize my pelvis. The personalized instruction was key, as the program was tailored to my injury, ensuring every movement was safe, effective, and productive.
Within weeks, I noticed a difference—sitting became easier, and the pain started to fade. After a couple of months, I felt stronger, more aligned, and, most importantly, pain-free. Pilates didn’t just heal my body—it gave me back my confidence and the freedom to move without fear. It’s been a life-changing experience, and I’m so grateful I took that first step!
Testimonial 2: Fixing My Rib Flare with Pilates:
I have struggled with a rib flare for years, and no matter how much I worked on my posture, it never seemed to improve. It caused discomfort in my upper body, especially when breathing deeply or during certain exercises. When I started Pilates, my instructor focused on exercises that strengthen my core and helped me engage my diaphragm properly.
With consistent practice, I began noticing a real change—my rib flare started to reduce, and I could feel my posture improving. The exercises not only helped realign my ribs but also taught me how to breathe more effectively and engage the right muscles to support my spine.
Pilates has been a game-changer for me. I’m more comfortable in my body, and I’ve finally found relief from something that had bothered me for so long. The personalized approach made all the difference, and I’m so glad I took the leap.

Summer, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

How’d you meet your business partner?
Summer Hall and I (Deanna Paschke) first crossed paths through Shannon Henne, the owner of COREmotion in Jacksonville Beach, FL. Summer had worked under Shannon for a couple of years before moving to Boca Raton to start Pilates Centered.
A couple of years later, I was at a similar crossroads. After working for Shannon and developing my skills as an instructor, I decided to move back home to Boca Raton. Shannon, knowing that Summer and I shared a passion for Pilates and a similar approach to teaching, introduced us. We connected instantly, realizing that we both valued the classical ideology of Pilates and a highly personalized, client-centered approach. From there, joining forces was the natural next step!
Since then, I’ve helped Summer continue growing Pilates Centered, a space that prioritizes individualized movement, injury recovery, and safe, effective programming—and we’re so grateful for the journey that brought us here!
