Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sümeyra Yüce. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sümeyra, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I believe the biggest risk I have taken in my life was choosing to be an artist, especially as a woman, considering the geography I was born into. Art has always been the most powerful expression of my existence and despite all the challenges, I chose to walk this path. At times, I faced uncertainty, societal perceptions of art, and the invisible barriers that exist for women artists. However, looking back now, I see that every step of this journey was worth it. Art has not only been a personal endeavor but has also provided a space for connection with those who relate to my work. The experiences I have gained throughout this journey have shaped not only my artistic production but also my perspective on life. I take great pride in both myself and the path I have chosen.

Sümeyra, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was born in 1996 in Osmaniye, Turkey. Due to my early interest and inclination toward painting, I began my art education at a very young age. During my high school years, my artistic training became more comprehensive. I graduated from Anadolu University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Painting in 2020 and completed my master’s degree at the same university in 2024. Between 2017 and 2025, I participated in numerous local and international exhibitions, both in traditional and digital formats. My artistic practice evolves in an eclectic manner, sometimes rooted in traditional methods, at other times exploring new media and contemporary tools.
At the same time, I have a keen interest in different creative disciplines such as ceramics, sewing, and jewelry-making, and I strive to dedicate time to these as well. Currently, I am preparing to launch my brand, Happy Idiot. In a world where the weight of knowledge can be overwhelming, Happy Idiot embraces the lightness of wearing the mask of a fool. The brand finds refuge in artistic creativity, offering a satirical yet playful critique of life’s realities. It focuses on handcrafted accessories and art objects suitable for home decor, aiming to create both an aesthetic and functional space. I continue my work in Eskişehir.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
To expand my audience and reach more people with my art, I actively use social media. Digital platforms are not just a space for showcasing work, they also allow artists to share their creative processes and make their audience feel like part of the journey. I leverage social media to present both the creative and conceptual aspects of my artistic practice. Transparency in sharing my process has helped me build an organic and strong connection with art enthusiasts. This interaction not only increases the visibility of my work but also allows people to engage with the ideas and emotions behind it, creating a deeper level of communication.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Over time, my approach to resilience has evolved significantly. In the past, I relied solely on my own methods, channeling my struggles into my creative process. Art was not just an expression but a means of coping with difficulties. However, as life became more complex, responsibilities grew, and human relationships presented new challenges, I realized that some struggles were too overwhelming to face alone.
Now, I understand that resilience is not just about individual strength but also about knowing when to seek support. Especially during one of the most challenging periods of my life, I have learned the importance of reaching out. I navigate this process by receiving psychological support, maintaining strong communication with my family and friends, and of course, continuing to create. Art remains my anchor but I now balance it with the support of those around me. I can confidently say that I am progressing well through this journey.
