Hi Sulky, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

I started streaming in 2021 because of the COVID quarantine as a way to stay connected to people and share connection with others. I feel like it’s always been one of my biggest motivators in what I do. Sometimes one person may be the reason why someone else stays around another day, another month, another year. And something wonderful can happen in that time that moves a person out of their depression, out of their rain cloud, and gives them an opportunity for positive shifts in their life which ultimately gives them reason to live. Connection and community is so important to the foundation of what I do. I always hope to bring that love of community into everything I do, and hopefully my audience connects with me in that way as well. Horror is also a small community of freaks and weirdos and I love to be a part of. Connecting to others who share the same interests makes all of us feel a little less alone.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I’m SulkyGhoul (she/her)! I’m a horror streamer, content creator, and aspiring voice actor living in Orlando. I stream and record horror video games on Twitch and YouTube for my audience of horror loving ghouls. I also love makeup, fashion, theme parks and make other content on instagram catering to other people who also love these things but are also into horror. As of recently I have started my journey into voice acting as well! My goal is to one day be in a horror game, myself. I love to center my content on community and fun. Streams always have jokes, goofs, and gaffs. And my content is not serious in the slightest. I believe heavily in positive mental health and do what I can to contribute to more positivity on the internet. If you love horror, makeup, fashion, and jokes, I’m the right creator for you!

How did you build your audience on social media?

Social media is always such a tricky and ever changing landscape. My journey has had its ups and downs. I’ve had moments on skyrocketing on one platform while my others stagnated. Each social has its own rules and algorithm to follow, so I say the biggest thing is to research which platforms work for your content, and for your audience. Don’t spread yourself too thin, pick carefully which platforms to use, and experiment on what works for you!

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

Using business suite to schedule posts has been a lifesaver. I used to post every day on my own and it was exhausting. Now I set aside time once every few weeks and schedule posts so I can stay on top of relevance.
