Today we’d like to introduce you to Suless Burton.
Hi Suless, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Long story short……GOD! I began performing in high school, college, and grammar school but took a long break to raise my children. Years later, my son and I made the decision to begin filming a movie. Sadly, my son died from an asthma attack, but I managed to fulfill our ambition by finishing our first film, “When Does it Stop.” The inspiration from that film pushed me to film my second film “HOPE Westside High” that was inspired by the 1988 film Lean on Me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life’s journey towards achieving your goals will never be easy. Lack of sleep, unforeseen financial expenses, technical challenges, bad weather, and long days and nights were all part of the process of making two great films.

SBF Advertising/BEAST Productions is the name of my advertising agency. My son’s business is called BEAST Productions. I decided as an actress that I would stop waiting by the phone for my big break and instead write, direct, and produce my own films until my phone rings. If that doesn’t happen, at least I will be living the life I’ve always wanted to live.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
The fact that you asked is funny since I usually correct people who mispronounce my name by telling them that it’s pronounced just like “success”—just remove the two c’s and add a “L” and you have “Suless”—but to answer your question, it refers to someone who overcomes all challenges to accomplish their goals.
