Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to SUEUDO SOUSA. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
SUEUDO, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful it is necessary to plan earlier, to be persevering because nothing will be easy or it will fall from the sky, save money and invest wisely in your career plan, having a proactive thinking and being committed also helps, but besides all that, being innovative, thinking outside the box and doing things differently is what will get you noticed to the point of achieving the expected success.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My childhood was always involved with comics in some way, whether it was my Dad bringing it from his travels or getting together with friends and sharing them. Growing up, the love for this universe only increased and with that many people started getting together and generating more and more common bonds. As adults and with the same convictions, my friend Gilson Luz and I became partners in a challenging endeavor: to create the best of all characters. – but how to do that?
I put in mind that for people to like what I do, this work should be INNOVATIVE, bring something that will make a difference in the market, but also bring emotion, motivation, fun and send a “message”, there is a light in the end of the tunnel that can be reached by everyone.
So for the creation of our character (The Dark Saint), I did a study on TDI (Dissociative Identity Disorder), and how you could treat or live with it, but at the same time giving wings to fiction and giving unique abilities to each personality, so I found a way for these personalities to communicate and utilize each other’s abilities. This opportunity to take control or “teach” the other brings a real situation, possible to happen to people with TDI, showing how they can deal with it and in our plots we also try to show what would happen if a person with this type of disorder tried to be a “hero”, the preparation to make your life a little safer in these moments of vigilantism is what makes our character so innovative.
In character creation, trauma is always welcome, but trauma without motivation and personal construction is a hollow idea, the emotion that has to pass is of something that could have happened to ordinary people and how they could deal with it.
Putting it down on paper was our biggest challenge, but when the work was done, we realized that we had achieved our purpose and that people would love our character as much as we got involved with him.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I think the first thing anyone could say is, “financial investment”, despite not being the first thing we think of when facing this challenge, it is one of the main needs, after all we need to survive to continue the dream. So my story of resilience started by seeing the market in my city and specializing in something that would bring me a salary, so I graduated in Computer Science, did a postgraduate degree in telecommunications and network management and then did an MBA in management of projects, this made me enter the competitive market in the area where I live and gave me the “salary” to start making my dream a reality. Adapting, never giving up and overcoming obstacles is something you always have to learn to deal with in your life, but rest assured, once you master this, your life will become much more productive.
How’d you meet your business partner?
This is a funny story, I used to work as a support analyst for a technical assistance that had maintenance contracts with a hospital network, Gilson Luz worked in the billing area of one of these hospitals and his sector was one of the ones that opened calls for our IT team to resolve. Whenever there was a call from the hospital where he worked, I knew it was from his sector. Gilson Luz was the most humorous guy in the sector, always telling jokes and playing funny games with every service provider that arrived, until one day he brought a comic book and we started talking about the characters, the stories and we realized that we had many things in common, like our parents introducing us to comics when we were kids and how we were encouraged to read with them. We were practically literate by reading comics. Gilson Luz had some characters created and I had others, we decided to create a single universe where all of them could coexist and with that we came to the conclusion that it would be necessary to be innovative, and it was with this similar thought that we created Santo Sombrio.
