Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sue Deuchler. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sue, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I’ve always had a passion for creating and a knack for design. After being involved in a life changing car accident, I decided to work on a business that would share my creativity with others. I wanted to have a business that was “Made in the USA” and offered custom gifts.

Sue, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For 8 years, I have learned everything from the the beginning of how to make detailed designs in CAD programs, marketing, running the lasers, and shipping each item. I recently added a way to incorporate full color print items. Customers appreciate the kindness, knowledge and commitment to their purchases. You can find me behind the computer or the lasers, often working 12+ hour days, to make sure every customer order is carefully completed.
I have made detailed designs on wood, powder coat, mirror but the most memorable pieces are the cutting boards with generational recipes. When the clients give these to family, it is very emotional but heart warming.
Another very popular item are my DIY kits. I prepare several designs a month and each kit comes with everything a person needs to create a custom door hanger or wall decoration. Even the people who say they struggle with being “crafty” are able to make the kits. The enjoy the different design options each month. .
I am willing to take the time to listen to each customers inquiry. With my expertise, I provide detailed designs and thoughtful gifts. I am especially proud that I can offer high quality and affordable custom gifts.
For me, the best part of my job is seeing the customers enjoy something that they were a part of and knowing I’ve made a difference in their lives.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I’ve learned over the years that audiences are very visual. I have done videos of the DIY kits and items that are on the laser so everyone can see each process.
I have even posted photos of new items coming in and then a photo of a disaster of the office or shop, to show the true business owner side of the job.
Any person starting out just has to find what drives others. Sometime a live video or asking what design people like, will gain followers as much as just a regular photo.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
As much as I want to please everyone and take everyone’s business, I have had a few customers over the years that either don’t want to pay after getting their item or I have felt bad and wanted to just give everything away. As a business owner I know I have to have boundaries on everything from costs, designs, and how to say no.
I had a bride order several glass items and they were delivered as she wanted. The bride even inspected the items, but then a week later, as I was out of the country, she asked for a refund. Unfortunately she was advised of my policies and procedures, and left everything as it was.
