Hi Subia, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

Always had this artistic side to my personality . Enjoyed a pretty decent lifestyle in Dubai . Unfortunately after a serious loss in my husband’s business in 2019 , things changed drastically. We moved to US and I had to kind of do something to support my family. Never had a job experience,During COVID had plenty of time indoors . Started making simple Acrylic paintings . Some of my immediate family in US bought those paintings and than their friends also appreciated. Later I posted my work on different Muslim groups which got attention.Resin art was completely new to me . Started searching on YouTube how to go about it . Experimented on my own and got few orders . At the start to my surprise, I got orders for big size like by 60” by 48”for Resin art . It was a huge challenge for me at that time , but did it successfully Alhamdolilah and still is one of my best pieces till now.

My Art mostly includes Islamic Calligraphy both in Resin and Acrylic. Mostly my clients are from Muslim community, though I am open to clientele from all religions and cultures.Resinart is though more in demand and is more of luxuryart.I do gift items, wall-art , trays and coasters , clocks and many small personalised gift items like bookmarks and diaries too. Islamic Geodeart Plaques and Resin Clocks are most popular items.Many clients approach with their specific requirements and if they ask for any suggestions, I try to guide them according to their interiors and budget as well.Mostly my clients contact me through direct messages on my Facebook and Instagram accounts. My specialty is that I offer a wide range of products from items as small as keychains and bookmarks to large size Geodeart.Alhamdolilah have gained many loyal clients who only trust me for their artwork.Gaining reputation and maintaining it is tough and is only possible with consistent work.I always try my best to keep on improving my ways and techniques to come with even better results each time.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

Started my business with minimum funds . Initially only $200 for some canvases , paints and brushes.Made some Art for my own house. Gradually as few pieces started selling , I bought more materials. My brother gifted me Cricut Machine , which at first I didn’t even knew how to use. Later turned out to be one of my most valuable tools. Slowly and steadily I started experimenting Resinart and used my Cricut to cut my Islamic Calligraphy stickers on vinyl sheets . When I started Resinart with Islamic Calligraphy it was very new and not much similar work was seen , so got good demand. Later started taking orders with payments in advance . So did not had any fund’s problems. Later for bigger pieces worth $1500 and above took 60% advance and remaining 40% on completion.Now I sell items starting from $10 for bookmarks to $1800 for 60” by 40” Geodeart Painting with Islamic Calligraphy Alhamdolilah. All business is online and my page has gained reputation based on my work quality and Clients reviews over past two years . Now Alhamdolilah people have trust on me and they donot hestitate to pay advance even worth thousand dollars and above as well.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

When I first started I made my page on Facebook. In 2020 . Gained very few followers first few months . Shared my content in many Facebook groups , mostly Muslim where my work got noticed. Gained quite few followers through this and many clients too..later that year I made my Instagram page too,and that’s when people really started picking up. I felt Instagram made me progress more efficiently..I started to engage more on other Artists posts ..
