We were lucky to catch up with STU Kemper recently and have shared our conversation below.
STU, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I once got inspired to challenge myself and create something with alot more meaning . I had a friend who was doing a installation on mental health and i felt like this was the perfect opportunity for my art . So i sat down for for days clicking links , watching videos, talking to people and just simply learning all that i could before i put brush to canvas. I gotta say it was worth it because the new perspective i was able to gain from this was world changing . I eventually painted a diagram comparing a heathy functioning brain to one that’s dealing with a few things mentally . Through the colors and contrast i was able to take something so serious and turn into a helpful work of art . I donated the piece to the project because i wasn’t looking for money just a way to push the culture forward and to this day that’s still one of my favorite creations .

STU, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those who don’t know me my name is Stu and I’m a All around creator . I started with drawing and poetry back in 2015 and that led me to trying new things like painting, creative directing , and modeling . Shortly after i started doing different kinds of events like art shows , concerts , and even sporting events really putting myself out there. These days I’ve taken my creativity to a new level with a magazine displaying everything beautiful and underrated about my culture and city . With this Magazine , Diamond Magazine , im able to bring the many different elements in my city to one place , such as food, history, art , sports you name it . By this i was able to help bridge the gap from young and old, black and white , make or female , it doesn’t matter there’s something here for everyone to celebrate. We plan to rehabilitate the community with clothing drives , fundraisers , and even park clean ups . My goal is to be the difference i want to see in my city and that all starts with love and respect for one another. I’m only two years in and my most proud moments are when people stop to tell me the love what and I’m doing understand how important it is. That makes me smile every single time .

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is change, but like i mentioned before i understand you have to be the change you want to see. Growing up i was exposed to a lot and it helped shape my views about the world . Lack of resources and education can lead to a state poverty. I have dedicated my life’s work to providing every opportunity i can to not only my community but everyone that needs it. From a simple repost for a business to Food drives I will see a change in my city .

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing your vision come to life . We all have in our minds what our creation should look like but that doesn’t mean it always turn out that way . That’s just the process . Sometimes you make something beautiful and get inspired to keep adding . Other times your creation may turn into something completely different than what it was intended to be. But seeing it come to life is the reward of the process .
