We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stripez VU. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stripez below.
Stripez, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Everyone around me was just depressing and had no hope for themselves. I don’t know if they were just down on their luck or didn’t have any motivation or what but it started affecting me too. When I released R.I.P 2 U.R Feelings in June 2020, it was a project that had way more meaning to me than just the songs I put on there. I locked in all summer in my studio with Chuks experimenting and finally making what I wanted to hear from myself. We weren’t worried about what people would think it was just us catching a vibe and really going to work. I made it 30 songs because no one else was dropping so I felt like I had to. R.I.P 2 Ur Feelings means that you kill your feelings and move on and don’t let them get in the way. The album spoke to me so much that I released a second one and changed my social media handles to it: @rip2urfeelings.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ll always bet on myself. I trust in myself and don’t care what people think so much that the “VU” in stripezVU stands for “Versus Universe”. I never used to fit in and usually choose to be with myself and my thoughts. I realized that through music I can express myself and still let people know what’s up with me. Music lets me say things that words can’t always say.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building any audience for me was tough because I’m more of a loner. I met Masn USA early when I started making music so we got the same type of sound. I had to promote myself and be my own biggest fan for anyone else to support me or take me seriously but I noticed the main thing people like is consistency. When I stay consistent with dropping music, making posts, and also who I am, people like it.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
To not force anything that doesn’t feel true to myself. I got hooked up with a show for Thouxanbanfauni and needed 5 songs to perform. At the time I only had 4 so I went ahead and rushed and made another song for the show the day of. Hated the show. I didn’t know the words to the song and ended up deleting it. Now I take time making music more seriously.
