We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Stormy Curtis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Stormy, thanks for joining us today. What’s the best advice you ever gave to a client? How did they benefit / what was the result?
“Don’t be afraid of being afraid. Sometimes the one thing you need for growth is the one thing you are most afraid to do. Just do it!” I have a friend who is a single mom, who has always rented, and was informed the rent was being raised. The home was falling apart, and she was spending a lot of money on a house that really wasn’t her home. When you are a single mom trying to juggle full-time parenting with full-time jobs and trying to make ends meet, dreams like homeownership can seem out of reach. So, I introduced her to some lenders, and she learned quickly that she could purchase a HOME that was better for her and her children. She is now living a better life, because her mortgage is better than the rent price, the house is now a home, her kids are in a better school system, and she has more confidence in her ability. I am so proud that she jumped and quit being afraid. She was willing to listen and learn, and not judge the process.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I was born in Illinois and moved to Georgia at the age of 4. I have lived all over the state of Georgia in 37 years. I am married to my high school sweetheart, James Curtis, and we have a daughter named Aloura and a son named Ayden. Both have my Heart.
11 years ago, when I had Ayden, I was unable to go back into the workforce, so I developed a company in my area known for community publishing and event coordinating – Paulding County Uncensored. Paulding County Uncensored was born out of the need for the citizens of Paulding County to be aware of the different Community Events and happenings in the county. Through our Community Outreach, I strive to arm the citizens with knowledge about our community. So, I started as a Facebook page, grew to an informative website, and then I started creating events in our area that brought in thousands of people who wanted more for the area. Paulding County Uncensored’s mission is to promote, support, and improve Paulding County, to also have more involvement in our community and showcase Paulding County to its highest potential.
With Paulding County Uncensored, I started to really see growth in different areas in Georgia overtime. So, I got my real estate license and started a real estate team known as Buy Georgia Realty. I have had multiple closings over the years, and several seminars educating communities on how to buy and sell homes. I believe knowledge is power, so I have worked closely with people experienced in their profession (inspectors, insurance, lender, attorney) to make the seminars successful and all my closings as smooth as possible. I have a team who follows the same motto “We Tell You What You Need to Hear, Not What You Want to Hear.” We believe in being truthful and reliable through the entire process and after. “We Are Dedicated to Results.”
Whether someone is looking to buy, sell, rent, or invest, I can help them on their journey! I understand that they’re not just buying a property, but they’re buying a home that needs to mold perfectly into their lifestyle, and it is my goal to make sure it’s just right for them.
My passion for real estate continuously motivates me to always do the best, so I can build a lasting relationship with clients. I truly enjoy seeing and sharing the process from beginning to end by removing the worry that may come along during such a big decision. I keep my clients informed every step of the way ensuring they know I am there for them, listening to them, and making their best interests my top priority.
Have you ever had to pivot?
When the coronavirus exploded into a global pandemic in March 2020, many real estate agents had to rethink how to do business. Some agents gave up, others did whatever it took to keep their business going. We went virtual. We did virtual tours, more videos, more detailed pictures, better written description, and more details in the data portion on a listing. We became more self-conscious of hygiene when touching items in the home (cabinets, knobs, doors, etc), and wearing masks/booties/gloves depending on the client/customer. We did a lot more to accommodate everyone involved, even the appraiser who sometimes didn’t want to enter the home (providing more pictures, sq ft, and better details on the features of the home.)

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I am an educator at heart. The market changes regularly, and even if someone buys often – no two real estate deals are ever the same. My job is to educate and not overwhelm. I ensure that my clients have a complete understanding of the buying and/or selling process. I educate them on the overall experience, and then educate them in more details during the process. Doing this helps them to know what to expect every step of the way so they are more relaxed. Since they’re more relaxed, the most common “freak outs” are avoided. Educating them is the type of customer service that they’ll remember, and how I am remembered.
