We were lucky to catch up with Storm Check recently and have shared our conversation below.
Storm, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
We always try to go above and beyond with our customers. The details matter so any chance we can get to improve our service we are always looking ways to add value for the customer. Over the years we have added several different add-ons to our service in addition to the cleaning (at no additional charge to the customer) because we want to “wow” them with our service. We make sure each shelter is safe and registered, include a first aid kit, water bottles and special “storm check kit”. We also throw in an additional unexpected surprise at the end…I can’t share this now or it would ruin the surpise!
Storm, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We came up with the concept back in 2020 and thought what type of service is not being offered and how can we create a business that helps the community and gives us a chance to create jobs for Veterans that have served our country. We are proud to help the Veteran community and give back to those that sacrificed for our freedoms.
How’d you meet your business partner?
Our partner met at a previous employer and have know each other for years. We have been friends for over 10 years before starting the business. We know we can fully trust each other, which is always important when going into business with someone. We are excited to see how this company will grow as we aim to take it to the next level in the next 3-5 years.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
We started with just a few hundred dollars in our bank account and just starting doing the work. Cleaning after cleaning until we built up a little bit of reserves. From there we aim to invest our profits back into the business through marketing, adding more employees, attending conferences. We know it’s all about the long-term.
