Stevi, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
There are three keys to success: failure, perseverance, and hard. work. Without the experience of failure, it’s almost impossible to truly enjoy the fruits of success. When I first started my business in 2015, I really didn’t know what I was doing and to be honest, I was pretty naive. I thought that I could make some business cards, and website, and then boom! I’m a millionaire. Failure allowed me to learn from my mistakes and realize that there are no shortcuts in entrepreneurship. In reality, I had to experience so many levels of failure just to still be running the race. Having faith also helped me to persevere through my failures and realize that I’m only going to get stronger and better with time. Regardless of how cliche it may sound, I’ve learned that hard work will always pay off. I will always embrace the long days and sleepless nights, understanding that I am purposed to be great in order to help my family and community.
Stevi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Founded in 2015, my business specializes in the buying and selling of pre loved designer goods. My website currently offers a growing collection of new and pre loved women’s and men’s, pre-authenticated designer items. I. have always been a lover of fashion but working as a full time educator, my budget often didn’t allow space to spend on the finer things in life. I began giving fashion advice and helping my students to secure luxury items for prom. With a bit of encouragement and a prayer, I decided to go full force in the luxury consignment industry. I take pride in being able to give the average fashionista access to exclusive, top tier coveted luxury brands. I would love for potential clients to know that I have a high level of dedication when it comes to “securing the bag” (literally lol). I love how happy my clients are when they can save money and look fashionably expensive. We also offer scouting services to assist clients with purchasing their dream bag or designer shoe. We look forward to expanding our inventory and including jewelry and accessories in our collection.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing your clientele is to offer exceptional customer service and a top tier inventory. Customer service and a top tier inventory always keeps our customers coming back. Clients want to feel like they can reach someone with ease when they have questions or concerns. Being able to provide excellent customer service has allowed me to gain more more clients from referrals alone. Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Believing in yourself is everything and funding your business is so important in the early stages of building. I am a full-time classroom teacher and didn’t come from a family that could invest in my business or give me “a small loan of a million dollars (lol).” I work hard and made sure to save whenever I could in order to finance my entrepreneurship dreams. The best method, which worked for me in terms of funding, was to fund small. I created a task list and funded my tasks, crossing things off my list, at my own pace. It’s no grand story but it worked for me and can work for anyone who is really trying to build a business from the bottom.
