Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Steven Stapleton Jr. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Steven, thanks for joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
The best thing my parents did for me was to be consistent. My mother and father were both in the armed forces. Growing up, I remember going to military bases in the Midwest and other locations, riding tanks with my brother, and seeing barracks, training sessions, or photos. They applied that same level of discipline and consistency in raising me. Just like in the Army and Marines, my mother and father showed me how important it was to show up, no matter what I set my hands to — be it school, work, or a creative project. When they committed their lives to the Lord when I was about 3, they applied the same principles to our lives. They didn’t always get things perfect (as no one ever does), but they always showed me how to move forward despite any challenge that might come upon me. That same level of perseverance is what I’ve applied to my music career and my parallel endeavors in fashion and art.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I began doing music at a young age, and it never left me. While in high school, I competed in DECA at the state and international levels during my junior and senior years. During that time, I honed my skills in marketing and bringing products and services to fruition. With that experience, I applied it in college at Full Sail University, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Recording Arts and Engineering. Today, I apply my extensive background in music production, live sound, and marketing to elevate and provide solutions for independent and major artists needing guidance or a pathway to prosperity for their campaigns and works of art. It is with this understanding and wisdom that I see success and share my experiences in my art, along with my faith in Christ, which leads me. Without Christ to guide my path, I would have been lost in aimless ambition or caught up in the countless addictions my peers latched onto within this industry. Through art, personal development, and coaching, I share these experiences.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In 2016, I lost sight in my right eye due to a debilitating disease that is now under control and being reversed. At the time, the doctors said I would be completely blind. Within three weeks, I was writing songs and recording again, despite experiencing excruciating pain in my body and mind. Later that following year, I released an album despite being partially blind and traveled the country with new music, shooting music videos and performing shows in multiple states.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Buying directly from the artist, whether it’s their new album like The Faith Tape Vol. 1 or The Faith Tape Vol. 2, or merchandise from www.faithclothingonline.com using the promo code CRWNO10, or buying tickets to a show from www.kpmusicrecords.com. Seriously, direct support of an artist goes a lot further than just streaming their content. However, sharing their content and engaging with them consistently helps push them to the masses. We’re a tribe, so let’s make the circle bigger together. @crownonesog
