Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Steven Schneider. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Steven, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Being successful boils down to patience, perseverance, and the power of saying “no” at the right times.
Let me explain:
Patience: nothing successful happened overnight- if it did, it’s likely unsustainable. The best companies, relationships, (fill in the blank), blossomed and solidified over years of experience.
Perseverance: life (and business) is hard. In many cases, success is on the other side of many hard conversations, long hours, and all those little events that make us second-guess why we started in the first place.
Saying “no”: attention and time is scarse. Sadly, it’s a finite resource nowadays, and shiny object syndrome can easily get the best of us. Learning to (politely) say “no” becomes a strength and competitive advantage at scale, ultimately leading to success.
Steven, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Steven is co-founder and CEO at TrioSEO – a blog writing agency that helps online businesses scale organic traffic and use their blog to generate qualified leads through BOFU (bottom of the funnel) content.
With the rise of social media, blogs are undervalued and overlooked. Many companies don’t think blogging is valuable, but that’s (likely) because they have the wrong approach.
TrioSEO creates content strategies that speak directly to their client’s ideal customers and target bottom-of-the-funnel topics that convert browsers into buyers.
He is most proud of the process they have built at TrioSEO to ensure clients have a turn-key, hand-off SEO strategy.
The team at TrioSEO manages everything from strategy and outlines to writing, editing, uploading, and publishing- even offering tips and tricks to enhance user experience (UX) and conversion.
Before TrioSEO, he co-owned a portfolio of 40 blogs and managed 400 articles monthly, scaling to 7 figures in annual revenue.
Blogging isn’t dead, nor is SEO.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I met Connor Gillivan and Nathan Hirsch through LinkedIn.
Connor is a top SEO, so I automatically clung to his content when I “re-discovered” LinkedIn in January 2023. Through content, DMs, and small talk, we hit it off.
After several months, I met Nathan through a networking call without expectations of going into business with him or Connor.
Flash forward to more casual small talk with Connor and I asked him why he and Nathan had never started an SEO agency – “it just makes sense, considering your background,” I said.
(this was about 7 months after originally meeting them)
“We have thought a lot about it and mapped out the process, but we don’t have someone to operate it and step in as CEO.” He replied.
So I pitched myself.
With my background of co-owning 40 websites and publishing upwards of 400 articles per month, I knew the exact process and systems.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I started my LinkedIn journey in January of 2023 and have been extremely active ever since.
When I re-discovered LinkedIn, I saw incredible opportunity. At the time, organic reach was unmatched compared to other social platforms, and coming from SEO, I knew it wasn’t going to last.
I started publishing content 2-3 days/week, which scaled into daily posts.
Through that time, I focused on what I coined as the 3 Cs: content, community, and consistency.
My advice for anyone looking to grow their personal brand on social media is to get those reps in and post as much as possible – however, with that, review results and consider what worked/didn’t work.
With that, engagement is everything (hence “social” in social media) – step outside your convert zone and talk to stranger on the internet (shocking, I know).
Lastly, think in years, not months or weeks. When I started posting on LinkedIn, I gave myself a 3 year expectation to see if it was successful or not. I’m on year 2 and have already confirmed it’s worth every minute.
