We recently connected with Steven Lendrum and have shared our conversation below.
Steven, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
I started off performing in multiple bands for over 15 years before I decided to start booking myself. I have been writing songs for just as long but always served as a player in someone else’s band.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My grandfather is the infamous Pineapple Bill Lendrum. He was labelmates with BB King, music is in my blood.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
The day I discovered what I really wanted to be in this world, was the day my cousin gifted me my first guitar. My mother was fugitive most of my life so we were constantly moving from state to state but when I got my first guitar at 15, I decided to leave the mid-west and it’s lifestyle and head on out to California which is where the musical journey really began..
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Moving back to the mid-west in my early 20’s. Thought I was done with music after 2 of my bands dismantled but I decided one cold winter morning with 5 and a half feet of snow on the ground and -17 degree temperatures, it was time to pack up my little 4 cylinder Tacoma and head back to the west. Not sure what life would be like if I didn’t make that move.
