We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Steven Jean-Baptiste a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Steven, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Being successful is when a person accomplishes all of their goals and dreams while enjoying their day to day lives I believe that becoming successful requires a lot of passion, belief, faith, and consistency.
In my mindset coaching business i help millennials work through mental roadblocks and obstacles they face via video content or blogging. For me, what’s considered successful is when I’m able to talk to somebody or post a video inspiring and motivating others and seeing the results from my content inspiring others to take action
I believe becoming successful is extremely hard because if you don’t live a fulfilled life covering all aspects, it’s tough to feel the joy of succeeding. For example, I graduated college from a prestigious university, joined a fraternity, and met the love of my life. However, I noticed I had student loans to pay off, requiring me to pursue job opportunities and create a business. Some might see this as a failure, but true success is being in a position to go to university, learn, make friends, find your future spouse, and feel successful overall. From a business point of view, positive feedback and reassurance is something that allows me to keep going.

Steven, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Drawing upon my Haitian-American heritage, I infuses my coaching skills with rich cultural insights, empathy, and a deep understanding of the human experience.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Every thing In my life I had to experience it twice in order to learn from it. Starting from attempting to go to the best college in NJ, I didnt get accepted when I was 18 but then I was accepted to the same program at 21. Another instance is where I have to continuously prove to others that I belong in the same room as them. At times, my quiet demeanor allowed people to create their own narratives about me until I show them my true self.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
The contet I found useful includes ; atomic habits by james clear, the one thing by gary keller , On Purpose Podcast by Jay Shetty, and Steve Harvey. These resources gives me an overview of the mental and spiritual habits I needed to believe in myself to envision success as an entrepreneur.
