We were lucky to catch up with Steve, Jon and Scott recently and have shared our conversation below.
Steve, Jon and Scott, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the story of how you went from this being just an idea to making it into something real.
Our podcast idea was born from family parties and vacations when three brother in-laws would get together to joke around and have fun. Conversations from those events were so funny that we wanted to share our experiences with the rest of the world. At those parties and vacations, we would always tell each other to “Never Stop Getting It,” which means to persevere through adversity, no matter what, to achiever whatever goal you’re trying to accomplish. At first, our podcast was supposed to be about everything and nothing at the same time – a means to escape reality and have a good time, especially during the pandemic. As the podcast progressed and evolved, we realized that we should interview guests who epitomize the “Never Stop Getting It” moto by overcoming adversity to achieve greatness. Our guests have been amazing examples of our moto and inspirations to us, as hosts, and to all our listeners as a whole. it’s been an incredible journey so far, especially since we’ve been able to help promote charities and organizations whose goal is to help people with mental and physical disabilities. For example, we’ve interviewed Pat Ricard, NFL fullback for the Baltimore Ravens, who was raising money for the local town Booster Club and fire department, and Todd Civin and Doug Cornfield, co-authors of the award-winning book “Pulling Each Other Along..” – an inspirational book about people helping people at all walks of life. We “Never Stop Getting” inspired by our guests! After interviewing all these inspirational guests, we realized that we now have a platform to help our community partners like Toys for Tots, the Matt Brown Foundation, and the Woodstock volunteer fire department. It’s our life’s mission to “Never Stop Getting II!”
Steven, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As the “Never Stop Getting It” podcast crew, we want our listeners to be entertained and inspired by our content. We want our listeners to enjoy our shows and “Never Stop Getting It.” Some episodes are all about everything and nothing at the same time, which takes your mind out of reality, while other episodes inspire our listeners though interviews with our incredible guests, We promote organizations whose missions focus on the accomplishments of those who may otherwise may not be recognized.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
It wasn’t a goal or mission, It was something bigger. We started with a fun-loving podcast that was supposed to bring humor during the Covid pandemic (take your mind out of reality). The more people discovered that we were having fun, the more people jumped in! We never thought we would have NFL players (Pat Ricard) on our podcast or former female world boxing champions (Bonnie Mann). It was our goal to have fun, make listeners laugh, and see where this journey would take us. Since we’ve somewhat evolved from the start, we can have fun while helping others promote their purpose! We feel that the “Never Stop Getting It” mission and moto can be a catalyst for helping a variety of causes that truly matter!
How did you build your audience on social media?
We can all appreciate the phenomenon of how social media became mainstream media in today’s pop culture; it’s a crucial aspect of building your brand and recognition. We used as many social media platforms as possible with family and friends supporting our cause at first. As our podcast grew in popularity, we began to engage with our audience as much as possible. A strong social media presence will be an asset for us to expand our audience and strengthen our brand. Our advise to anyone just starting out is that you can never have enough social media presence.
