We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Steven Gantt a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Steven, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I founded Gantt Consulting in 2021 in hopes of being the person I always wished I had whenever I prepared for monumental interviews or began a new job hunt. Over the years, I’ve become that person for a lot of my peers and colleagues in many industries including education, information technology, sports and entertainment, consulting and others. I pride myself on helping others champion, articulate and leverage their own gifts and experiences so they can attain the professional and personal life they’ve worked hard for.
Gantt Consulting is an all-encompassing career development company that specializes in helping others achieve their professional and personal goals in life. We provide several services including, but not limited to new resume creation, interview prep, career coaching and many more! We also offer consulting services for compensation negotiations, promotion cycles or new job opportunities. In addition, we also offer LinkedIn profile creation or revamping services.
The services provided by my firm aligns directly with my personal mission to be the person I’ve always wished I had during various parts of life and career. It’s as simple as that.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a native of Ward, SC, a small town outside of Aiken, SC, near the South Carolina, Georgia border. I grew up with a desire to discover more opportunities for growth and exposure to things, ideas, etc. I wasn’t necessarily accustomed to knowing. I always had a keen eye for identifying those things in the people around me and began to notice the gifts that a lot of family and friends had – whether they were already aware of them or not. While there were extremely talented people from my area, there were little opportunities often times coupled with the lack of knowledge of those opportunities.
I began to develop a passion for helping others discover and grow their talents which led me to pursuing a dual Human Resources Management and Marketing degree at the University of South Carolina. I believe Human Resources was and still is an adequate vessel to impact people at various levels within an organization. I specifically believe that Talent Acquisition is an extremely great vessel to impact others because it helps people identify their passions/goals/interests while also creating opportunities to grow that talent.
This has led me to establishing my career development firm Gantt Consulting, a scholarship in my great-grandmother’s name back at my high school alma mater, as well as being an active board member for the Young Alumni Board at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Consistent success with each of my clients has compounded into more and more opportunities to serve others. My biggest advice is to treat each individual customer/client with white glove treatment and present unique solutions and ideas. There is no one size fits all approach to career development. If you offer niche services, present niche solutions. This has helped build my reputation as a subject matter expert in my field.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Don’t take everything personally when doing business. I’ve always been a champion of receiving consistent, honest feedback especially from clients.
