We were lucky to catch up with Steven Crowe recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Steven, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
One of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on is one that I am currently working on. A that would be developing the tabletop game, Quest Forged Arena. Although it’s still a work in progress, it helped me find pride in leading my creative projects, even when I’m devoting hours on end to the project. Developing QFA hasn’t been an easy process, but it has put me on the road in my career that’s led me to where I am now.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My buddies call me Crowe, I’m a freelance artist, author, and tabletop game developer. I love world-building and telling stories in an epic fantasy setting. My greatest influences would be Tolkien, older animes like Escaflowne and Samurai Champloo, and Battle Chasers.
You can find me at most conventions in Salt Lake City, Utah. I’m currently working on an illustrated novella called “Quest Forged: Crossroads”. And along with that a brawler tabletop game, “Quest Forged Arena”.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
For me, there have been some really rough times and I have often found solace in escaping to fantastical worlds and that can mean in games, novels, comics, or anime but there was always somewhere else I could imagine myself and as someone who has spent so many years building out a world it’s all in the hopes that I can provide that same escape for someone else that I had.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Getting to have an impact on other people. Seeing their faces light up when they connect with a piece that I’ve worked on. It’s one of the coolest ways I’ve become friends with so many people especially here in Utah.
