We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Steve Weindorf. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Steve below.
Steve, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
It takes perseverance and belief in yourself and your ideas, above all else. Most people stay within the safety of the box and they will tell you not to take risks. But if you believe in your abilities and your pursuit and don’t let them convince you to stop, that’s the very definition of success.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have been involved in the entertainment industry since I was young. I started DJing events and providing costumed characters for private and corporate parties around the Chicago area at around 16 yrs old.
I received a Bachelor’s degree in radio and TV and moved to Atlanta to make it big in the entertainment industry. My pursuit was to develop a hub, in which anyone could source the best rated performers in any entertainment category and then partner with that client to design a customized performance specific to that event. To this day, it’s what sets us apart from other entertainment providers. I don’t know anyone doing what we do, at the level in which we do it…from theme decor and matching lighting designs to entertainers and games to fit the feel and style of the event.
Let’s move on to buying businesses – can you talk to us about your experience with business acquisitions?
All-Star Entertainment, Inc was a small entertainment company based out of Duluth, GA that I discovered in 1999 was for sale on BizBuySell.com. After meeting the owners, Larry and Alice Trammell, I immediately knew it was meant to be and I put my home up for collateral to buy it!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
At the time I purchased All-Star Entertainment, I was making good, consistent money in the corporate world. Unfortunately I wasn’t very happy and so I was pursuing an opportunity to be my own boss. Everyone told me that this little entertainment company was not the answer. From banks to friends & family, no one could see it’s potential. But, because I did see it’s future, I suffered through a few hard years before the hard work paid off and developed the All-Star you see today!
