We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Steve Walsh a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Steve thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I’m here to showcase the every day beauty I come into contact with.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into photography after a skateboarding injury that sidelined me for a summer, back in 2006.
I offer every type of photography. From travel and lifestyle to food and wedding.
I believe this mastery of each aspect of photography is what sets me apart from other photographers.
I am proud that I have been able to touch people with my photography. From being able to document their special day, to showcase their talent as a chef, to take a photo that can bring someone back to a certain time, I am proud to say that my photography has touched a large amount of people.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
After COVID hit and the government shut everything down for nearly two years, I truly struggled with getting any work. I ended up moving to Mexico and working as a photographer on a political campaign. I would not stay put and allow myself to rot over draconian, useless and senseless measures.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Constant storytelling.
I always tend to keep my works topical.
Whether it’s based on the weather or the news of the day, I try and keep my work up there with the topics of conversation.
This along with providing strong works, time and time again.
Word of mouth is key.
