Alright, Steve thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

It all started about 7 years ago when I was visiting my mom in Michigan and she had just rescued a beautiful 1950’s German stereo console that was in the basement of a house my step brother had just bought. The house he had bought needed some love and he went right in to remodel mode and just wanted things out of the way. I came to visit and was immediately drawn to the console crowding my moms garage. Well for my 40th birthday my mom crated it up and shipped it to me in California. I loved it dearly and still do. I fixed it up. I put bluetooth on it, added some LED lighting and even added a bar inside. I then got the bug to save some of these old stereo consoles. The problem I found is that no matter what I did to these classic stereo’s I could never get them to sound like I really wanted them to sound. So one day it hit me why don’t I design my own stereo consoles and make them sound the way I want. I knew I wanted a tube amplifier for the warmth and detail so I also started to design my own tube amplifier and the rest is history.

At its core, Streamline HiFi is dedicated to elegantly transforming music as the centerpiece of the home. We are master artisans crafting modern stereo record player consoles that seamlessly join the art of sound and the art of living. Our designs are deeply influenced by the clean, timeless aesthetics of the mid-century modern era, but our technology and construction standards are purely 21st-century audiophile quality. We don’t just build furniture; we create functional, high-fidelity art designed to elevate the in-home listening experience.

Getting Into the Industry
Our journey began with a frustration shared by many music lovers: the difficulty of finding high-end audio equipment that possessed both exceptional sound quality and a beautiful, enduring presence in the home. Vintage consoles were often aesthetically perfect but technologically dated or built with lower-quality components. Modern high-fidelity components, while sonically brilliant, often looked cold, industrial, or temporary.

We set out to solve this disconnect. The inspiration was simple: the physical ritual of placing a needle on a spinning vinyl record deserves a magnificent stage. We founded Streamline HiFi to recapture the golden age when the stereo console was the heart of the living room, but re-engineer it to be a true generational heirloom—a console that sounds as incredible as it looks, and is built to last for a lifetime and beyond.

I think the best source of clients for me is through designers and architects. The designers and architects who know about me and are planting the Streamline HiFi seed for their clients are finding that they are hitting home runs with their clientele.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

As a business owner I think it’s pretty common to question yourself and the journey you are on with your new business. Streamline HiFi I have a ton of passion for but I have also thought to myself what have I done to myself. Business is hard. What keeps me going and keeps me motivated is the reactions praises i get from clients when I delivery a stereo console to them. Because my products are more than just having a stereo they are an experience it has created this beautiful organic community of music lovers truly enjoying their experience.
I recently delivered on of my Rambler models to a really cool client. One of my favorite questions to ask a client when I am delivering and setting up the stereo console is “what is the first song or album going to be?” She said she wanted to put on a Elvis album her mom had given to her. So we put on the album and with in a few seconds she started to cry because she was so happy to have her new Rambler. She said wiping the tears from her eyes ” I have never heard Elvis sound this good”!
Experiences like this remind me that I am on the right track.
