We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Steve Hyde a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Steve, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success for us as a husband and wife team has been defined by hard work, dedication, and commitment to keep going. We have encountered many obstacles, whether its poor lighting conditions, unpredictable weather, or external factors outside of our control, In each case, we have to get creative and find solutions outside of what we expected.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Photography has always been our creative outlet. After meeting and marrying in Africa, we realized we both really loved photography. In 2012, the introduction of drones to our toolkit revolutionized our approach. We’ve loved growing alongside this ever-evolving technology, and it continues to open doors to incredible aerial perspectives.
Dizzy Media has a diverse clientele, including TV stations, universities, city governments, leading commercial real estate companies, architects, and marketing agencies. We create stunning visuals that elevate their projects. Our photographs are also the daily backdrops of KHOU 11 Morning News and KHOU 11 Great Day Houston, and has been featured on local TV shows, popular podcasts, and at fashion shows. Additionally, we leverage our expertise by collaborating with other drone companies and photographers on large-scale projects.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
We met in Lagos Nigeria when I accidentally spilled beer on Gio in a club, we hit it off immediately. After talking, we realized we had a lot of things in common. Photography was one of them. Over the years, we have been to many places around the world taking photos .

How did you build your audience on social media?
We are active moderators across several social media platforms within the drone community. We also sponsor large, local drone meetups in our area, which has helped us grow the community and reach people from different parts of the country. These efforts promote education and engagement allowing us to connect with more people who share our passion.
Our advice for building a social media presence is to stay active, engage with your audience, and offer value, whether that’s through education, entertainment, or community evolvement consistency is key, and being authentic helps build trust and loyalty with your followers.
