We were lucky to catch up with Steve Delgado recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Steve, thanks for joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
When I began pursing the craft, I knew that I had to go study. I’ve always been that type of student that loves to learn, especially in something that I’m passionate about. I knew it was going to be a process because there’s so much to the craft that makes it never-ending. Throughout time, I understood the concept of human nature, and how it applies to character development. Even people watching is beneficial because you’re watching real people in real time, and you can always pull from that moment, and see what you can do with that choice. I feel being vulnerable is important because it allows you to feel the emotion that you’re feeling, and as the audience we want to see what you are and why you are not feeling that way. I’m always going to be learning the craft, I’m not taking days off, I’m in class every week, I also do workshops with casting directors. I take everything as progress, and I know I’m just getting better.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m an actor and writer. I got into the industry by just going to a trade school when I was 18. I was learning the craft and the business of acting. Then, I began networking with people, and it just continued from there. There were a lot of bumps but I was still determined that I can make it.
I’m proud that I’m still growing, and I’m even more curious. What sets me apart from others is my discipline to the craft. While people are partying, I’m studying, watching film, breaking down auditions. I just want to do what I love doing.
I’m wonderful at networking, creating stories, and having fun.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I want to create a lot of films that people can relate too and touch lives.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
When other creatives reach out, and they have a role for you in the projects, or keeping you in mind for future projects. Building organic relationships is really rewarding.
