We recently connected with Steve Dansby and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Steve thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents instilled in me the importance of being a person with integrity and character. My capacity to build relationships and be empathetic towards people when needed is what I learned from my mother. My father told me the importance of giving your word and keeping it. Also, the importance of following instructions and being relentlessly persistent. The are the foundations of Great entrepreneurs if you research their interviews and fortunately I was blessed to have been taught those qualities at home.
I am unable to sleep at night unless I know myself and my team have given a great effort for our client. That’s what they deserve when they hire us and that’s what a good team and good people do.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
The way I got into my industry was actually through web development. I initially got my degree in Computer Information Systems and I went on to be a Business Process Analyst. I always had a fascination with how computers could handle things. I stumbled across affiliate marketing around 2015 and saw how you could actually earn money online and that blew my mind. People were using the internet to create full blown careers from home.
Next, I started to figure what the quickest way for me to earn money could be. I researched and what I found was that there was a need from local businesses to bring their businesses online for people to find them. From there I narrowed my niche down to fashion, beauty and skincare products….because for me I understood those industries and their customers the best.
Fast forward, we provide paid advertising assistance, automation and consulting to these same types of businesses. In other words we put more leads/potential customers in front of the businesses with the least amount of “busy work” needed to fulfill orders. So the business is able to make more money yet spend less time doing things that don’t benefit the business or customer.
What are you most proud of and what are the main things you want potential clients/followers/fans to know about you/your brand/your work/ etc.?
The thing I am most proud of is our retention, when clients sign on with us they usually stay for years, not months, and that’s because we have the business owners best interests in mind at all times, not just when we get paid. Our clients are usually happy to work with us because we are transparent, respectful and effective. Often our clients and our team have a great working relationship, we have their back like most companies won’t.
We also recommend that some clients do I one-time consultation with me because we need to assess the business and look at the possibilities before we commit to a long term agreement to work together. We want to equip our clients with EVERYTHING needed to be successful. So even if they don’t work with us long term my consults ensure that they have ALL of the information needed to grow their business from almost any point that they are sitting at.
We are growing a BRAND we aren’t just selling products, that’s what we do at Momentum Marketing. We build a business to the point to they are a brand that people love to shop with.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn was when to say “NO”. Everyone is not your client. Everyone does not hold the same values, carry the same energy, have realistic expectations, etc.
You want to work with level headed people with realistic expectations that also are enjoyable to work with. If a client is not a good fit based on the criteria you set up then I would recommend not holding that client long-term, If will only lead to problems that affect your bottom line and your mental health. Not worth it. Ever.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
The books that changed my life in business are probably 3 books.
How to Win Friends and Influence People – Dale C.
Influence – Robert C.
100M Offers – Alex H.
These three books emphasize the importance of knowing how to interact with people, understanding what motivates people and what they hold important. This also explains how to construct an offer that your clients will love to respond to.
Thanks,
