We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Stephen Mayberry a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Stephen thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
My journey began when I was 8 years old. I come from a family of singers and musicians, and was asked by my father if I wanted to learn how to play the bass guitar. Then later on as a teenager I learned how to play the piano and the organ. My songwriting journey began in my Twenties and I started music production in my thirties. But 2 years before my 40th birthday I was involved in a vehicle accident on my job that changed my life. It was then when I decided to pursue a career in music.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
The name of my company is Songdre Productions. Our goal is to constantly expand our repertoire by working with talented singers and musicians in finding their right sound and style. One of the things I love doing is helping musicians make their music sound even better than they thought it could. We have phenomenal musical talents, an outstanding ability to imagine the final product, and amazing technical skills, We want to bring their music to the next level.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect is see the vision come to life. Seeing all the bits and pieces come together, and hearing to final product brings joy.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I believe what society can do is give people a chance, Sometimes we often compare an artist with another, but we need to realize everyone is different. And since we’re all different, then we all have a different sound.
