We were lucky to catch up with Stephen Boyd, M.ed recently and have shared our conversation below.
Stephen , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
At SB Entertainment our mission is motivate, activate, and elevate instructional practices, transforming classrooms from outrageous to outstanding!
This mission is meaningful to us because when classrooms are orderly, yet fun and exciting, student learning exponentially increases. When we launched out in 2014 to provide professional development to help improve instructional practices, our goal was to help teachers understand student behavior and how to appropriately respond in times of challenge.


Stephen , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
At the helm of SB ENTERTAINMENT LLC, my focus is on pioneering staff development programs that drastically reduce referral rates and enhance educational settings. Our team’s dedication has led to a significant improvement in learning environments, utilizing strategies that have been researched and proven effective. However, what lead to our success today was the rejection of my ideas by my school leadership.
Our local school was struggling with classroom management and student engagement as our discipline referral data was extremely high. Sensing we needed to address through professional development, I researched and found a training that I felt could help them staff. My principal completely rejected it! Sensing that it would be extremely helpful, I made a personal investment and attended the training. It changed my life! Not only was the content spectacular, I immediately became a certified trainer in the brand! And the rest is history!
Now, leveraging my expertise in educational leadership and public speaking, I have empowered educators to create dynamic and successful classrooms. Through my tenure, I have consistently prioritized the safety and success of educational sanctuaries, with a commitment to fostering excellence in teaching and student services.


What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
As a speaker and professional development coach, one of the lessons I learned quickly was to select conference events where decision makers are located.
Initially, I was attending conferences where teachers were largely in attendance. Although the evaluations were strong, the audience was not in a position to influence key decision makers to invest in my transformation.
The lesson learned was to investigate the background of the conference/event to ensure that your ideal decision maker was in attendance.


How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
To build a strong reputation, one must invest in strong marketing and publicity. This has helped immensely in getting my message to the masses. The truth is, you can be the best at your craft. However, if people have never seen or heard of you will always be the world’s best kept secret.
