We were lucky to catch up with Stephen Baumbach recently and have shared our conversation below.
Stephen, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Our mission is to find artists with potential to become great, We mentor and guide new and established artists to become better at representing themselves as well as growing their business. We also guide artists we select through the jungle of creation, sometimes offering possible new directions to refresh their creative spark.
In the end, after an artist has shown in our gallery, they walk away with a skill set not realized before.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve been a photographer for 55 years and have shown internationally. I wanted to create a business where other artists can learn from what I have been through. That’s the gallery part. The other paert of the business offers a wide range of services from large format fine art printing, art reprodution, image restoration and portraiture photography.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’ve had many careers from 20 years in the military to and an additional 15 years in corporate life all the time being a photographer. It dawned on me that while these careers were enriching in their own right, they were not satisfying my true calling. So one day I walked away from the hectic life of office cubicles and started my business.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I was a film photographer for may years spending a considerable amount of time in the darkroom. I knew having another job outside photography would keep me whole but there were times when the cost of equipment and film had to take a backseat to raising a family. I set my cameras down during my life more than once to address priorities. Soon the digital age was upon us and I was forced to relearn a great deal. Through study and mostly trial and error, I brute forced my way into the 21st century. Adapt and overcome.
