We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Stephanneth Adams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Stephanneth , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How’s you first get into your field – what was your first job in this field?
Landing my first position as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner was a journey. In 2012 there were not many opportunities for NPs in the field of OB-GYN. Job opportunities were limited to MD or DOs. It was an arduous journey to find a clinic seeking a specialized NP, who in addition did not have clinical experience outside of university training. As a result, I found myself in my 20s having to muster the fortitude to start my first position wherever the door opened. I worked as a Float Pool RN after NP school focusing on Med-Surg & Labor-Delivery. It was almost a year post-graduation that the first opportunity opened. I had to move several states over to gain experience. The area was in rural Pennsylvania. I knew that there was a reasoning behind the move, so I did not hesitate to join the clinic. Shortly thereafter the clinical began to have financial struggles & I knew it was best to search for the next opportunity before the office I functioned out of was also shutdown. The company was on the verge of closing offices due to lost state and federal fundings.

Stephanneth , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Dr. Stephanneth Adams, a Doctoral-prepared Nurse Practitioner, educator, advocate, and founder of PrEpared eClinic—Nevada’s premier Telehealth service focused on sexual and reproductive wellness. My passion lies in empowering individuals to take control of their health, with special emphasis on the areas that are often overlooked or stigmatized—sexual wellness, reproductive care, and hormone health.
My journey into this field is both personal and professional. As a woman who has personally navigated hormonal imbalances and faced gaps in sexual health education, I know firsthand how overwhelming it can be to feel unheard or dismissed. That experience fueled my commitment to providing compassionate, comprehensive care that blends both medical expertise and real-life understanding.
For more than 15 years, I’ve had the honor of serving diverse communities, including women, men, teens, individuals transitioning through perimenopause and menopause, and those navigating gender identity transitions. My work spans OB-GYN care, office-based procedures, HIV prevention, and optimizing sexual wellness through individualized treatment plans. Whether it’s contraception management, STI prevention, hormone imbalance evaluation, or HIV prevention with PrEP and DoxyPEP, my goal is to simplify access to care—especially for those facing barriers due to location, stigma, or financial limitations.
What sets me apart is my holistic, no-judgment approach. At PrEpared eClinic, we provide personalized, discreet Telehealth services across Nevada, eliminating the hassle of waiting rooms and insurance confusion. Our services are built around real solutions, rooted in evidence-based medicine, tailored to your unique needs.
I’m especially proud of creating a platform where clients feel seen, empowered, and equipped to prioritize their well-being. As an author, mentor, and lifelong learner, I also remain committed to educating future healthcare providers and contributing to health equity.
The most important thing I want potential clients and followers to know is this: you deserve to feel confident, informed, and in control of your health. Whether you’re managing low libido, navigating perimenopause, exploring HIV prevention, or just seeking answers—you don’t have to do it alone.
Let’s take the journey toward optimal wellness together.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve had to learn—and honestly, unlearn—is the need for external validation, especially from family and friends. Early on, I realized that if I waited for their constant approval, I would never make real progress. Not because they don’t care, but because the people closest to you are often not your clients, customers, or target audience. And that’s okay.
When you don’t understand that, you waste energy trying to convince them to be your supporters in a way that isn’t natural to them. You start carrying the weight of expecting them to validate every dream, every project, every move—and it will throw off your focus. I had to stop placing that burden on them. Their love and support can show up differently—and it doesn’t have to look like being your number one customer or vocal fan.
As a minority and a woman, society adds another layer of invalidation. You can feel invisible or underestimated before you even open your mouth. I’ve experienced that more times than I can count. That’s why building my confidence from within became non-negotiable. My worth isn’t tied to how loud others cheer—it’s anchored in the work I do, the people I help, and the purpose I carry.
Strangers will support you, clients will believe in your expertise, and your impact will speak louder than any doubts—yours or anyone else’s.
The sooner I embraced that, the freer and more focused I became.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the most defining moments of resilience in my life came when I faced blatant workplace discrimination based solely on my race. It was one of the most heartbreaking and disorienting seasons of my career. I had worked so hard—years of education, advanced training, and professional excellence—and yet, all of that was being completely invalidated simply because of the color of my skin.
At the time, I couldn’t fully process the depth of that injustice. Unfortunately, even in healthcare, discrimination still exists, and now, more research and awareness are finally shedding light on how pervasive it can be. But experiencing it firsthand was traumatic in ways I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
Seeking justice was not easy—it was a rugged, exhausting road to bring that discrimination to the surface. But I stood my ground, not just for myself, but for those who would come after me. The experience forced some organizational changes, and though progress was made, the emotional toll of being professionally invalidated because of my race left lasting scars.
What helped me push through was the unwavering love and support from my family—and that season ignited something deeper within me. It reinforced why ownership matters. There’s a different kind of empowerment that comes from building something of your own, where your worth, voice, and vision aren’t up for debate.
That’s why I’m so passionate about owning my own practice and creating spaces where equity, respect, and inclusion aren’t optional—they are the standard.
My story is still unfolding, but that painful experience fueled my purpose in a way nothing else would.
