We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stephanie Santana. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stephanie below.
Stephanie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I’m a US Air Force veteran with two degrees in the medical field. I was working with the government until November of 2020. I wasn’t feeling whole and faced a lot of discrimination and sexual harassment. I decided to take a risk and find something that will allow me to feel complete and be accepted. I had absolutely no desire to be a model but people kept telling me I had the looks for it. I ended up auditioning for an agency where they decided to sign me as a model and actress. I immediately began training and excelled in both fields! I got to do some modeling for international campaigns such as “My Place Hotels” and “Arcadia Custom Windows.” I’m a series regular for a telenovela web series with millions of views and currently working on full features in the film industry!
Stephanie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those that don’t know of me. I represent positivity, following dreams and taking risk. I believe that if you aren’t happy, you have to find what will make you happy. I’ve never seen myself as person that fits in the modeling world because I don’t fit the model statistics. I’m short and curvy! Apparently all you need is a great personality, confidence and a pretty face. I love uplifting others and responding to my fans when they are facing tough times. It makes me smile when they respond with “omg, is it really you writing back to me?!”
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I was suffering with anxiety on a daily basis due to the sexual harassment and discrimination while working for the government. I helped turned my life around by something that allowed me to fit in and be myself. The entertainment industry doesn’t discriminate against sex appeal and beauty standards. I do face criticism on the web series about my booty being too big but that’s expected when receiving millions of views on a social media platform.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn how to just live with loving myself and not caring what others think. The hardest part was that inner voice that causes self doubt. I had to learn to push that voice to the side and believe in me. With so much negativity you start believing it and that’s the hardest thing I’ve had to learn to stop doing.
