We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Stephanie Rollins a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Stephanie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
One of the biggest trends I’m seeing right now is marketing directly in the DMs. With so many privacy regulations popping up, DMs are the best opportunity to get directly in front of people who are your ideal clients.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into chat marketing by accident. My job had just discovered a software called Manychat and they had a dedicated person to run campaigns… but then, that person left the team. So the task was passed along to me. I started to learn the software and how we could use it for different campaigns, but I wasn’t crazy about the process until I went to my first chat marketing conference. It was there that I truly learned the possibilities of chat marketing. With chat marketing, I’ve been able to help my clients increase webinar attendance, increase course and membership sales, and increase engagement with their core audience all without. leaving Facebook or Instagram. Everything goes down in the DMs! Chat marketing is great for people who have an audience but may not have a huge team – your chatbot can act as your VA in your DMs. I’m most proud of building campaigns for brands like Mindvalley, Manychat, Foundr Magazine, Marketing by Monrae, Stephan Speaks and more.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
The way I built my reputation happened in a way that I don’t think most experience. My previous job actually provided me with several things: access to a community of entrepreneurs and the opportunity to be an appointed expert for the brand. Through these two things, I was able to build genuine relationships that ultimately helped me jumpstart my business. I also worked for the top agency in chat marketing for a little over a year. Gaining that experience and having leaders in the space giving me top marks has truly helped also.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Hands down, word of mouth. It’s easier to get a client through a mutual connection than it is to grab a cold lead (in most cases). One huge benefit to word of mouth referrals is that there’s an immediate transfer of trust. You don’t have to work as hard to break down barriers and address objections.
