We recently connected with Stephanie Pascarella and have shared our conversation below.
Stephanie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
There are certainly a myriad of variables that contribute to my business success but I believe the anchor is authenticity. From the very beginning of Wash with Water authenticity allowed our brand to embrace my distinct voice and vision. I prioritized transparency which quickly helped the brand establish credibility and reassure our wellness community that we are committed to delivering high-quality, ethically sourced, and safe products. And by acknowledging and celebrating our uniqueness over the last decade, Wash with Water has been able to carve out a niche and differentiate our brand and products from the rest of the industry.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I was born into wellness through my beautiful upbringing in Vermont. My parents taught me the value of connecting with nature, living in synergy with the seasons while cultivating deep relationships with my community.
My own journey with motherhood planted a new seed of creativity and desire to deepen my positive impact on the world. Wash with Water was born as a love note to both my own children and families around the world. I create skincare that is crafted from nontoxic, clean ingredients, free of harmful chemicals, synthetic fragrances and always cruelty free. Our daily operations are based in Charleston, South Carolina, where we raise our three small children.
At Wash with Water, I work hard at leaving a thoughtful footprint for the next generation. Proudly Climate Neutral Certified, active contributor to 1% for the Planet, EWG Environmental Working Group certified, Leaping Bunny and Certified, B Corp.
In 2022, Wash with Water launched our OCEANRESCUE™ packaging which combines state-of-the-art technical expertise to transform plastic at-risk of polluting the oceans into our SUN HERO packaging. Each SUN HERO purchase is a critical part of recycling millions of pounds of plastic. Wash with Water also achieved a Plastic Negative Footprint. By donating a percentage of every product purchase to plastic reduction efforts, Wash with Water is enabling the removal of millions of lbs of low-value plastic waste otherwise landfilled, burned, or flushed into the oceans every year. Through its partnership with rePurpose Global, the company is supporting vetted waste management social enterprises like Project Neela Sapana (नीले सपना) in Chennai, India to collect and process hard-to-recycle waste streams otherwise too low value to be reclaimed from the environment, such as chocolate wrappers, chips packets, and similar flexible packaging items.
By going Plastic Negative, Wash with Water is not only tackling a $50bn/yr funding gap that plagues recycling supply chains worldwide, but is also adding a crucial income stream for waste pickers and their families in Chennai, India. Today, informal waste workers often earn less than $5/day, work in precarious conditions, and face severe discrimination despite providing a crucial societal service for cities across the developing world. Through this initiative, the company is boosting these waste workers’ income by attaching value to hard-to-recycle plastics, while supporting experienced recycling social enterprises which holistically uplift waste pickers through occupational safety, health insurance, and skills training.
I am currently expanding my positive impact in the wellness community through my work as a National Board Certified Health and Wellness coach. My new company, Eudaimonia, will help individuals achieve continuous personal growth and self-actualization through guided meditation. I feel very called to help others delve into self-reflection, self-awareness, and understanding one’s values, passions, and aspirations.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
As a DTC brand this regular connection can certainly be challenging. I make a concerted effort to host pop ups all over the country because there is nothing better than spending time with washies (my pet name for our incredible customers). Our pop ups are so special because there are washies who have been with the brand since 2012, and that type of loyalty stems from people seeing that there is a real mom behind the brand doing the work. There is a lot of smoke and mirror with brands these days and I know Wash with Water is refreshing for consumers because we can truly stand behind our claims.
In 2022, we incorporated community beach and park clean ups to increase the time we spend with our washie community. Last summer, we traveled from Vermont’s Lake Champlain to the Florida Keys! Activations like these make the environmental work so much more accessible and meaningful.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
It’s a very simple formula. My focus has always been on efficacy, safety, and innovation.
I do not chase trends, I do not compete with other brands, and I do not take on investors who do not share my vision. I have been able to forge my own path with Wash with Water because I stay in my own lane. My brand is not an overnight sensation but a decade’s long success because I stick to the basics. There are so many gimicky brands these days, if you create results-driven products that are safe for your customers and the environment it will be a win-win strategy.
