Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stephanie Mueller. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Stephanie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
BeautyOp was needed in Iowa. As a passionate hair and makeup artist that specializes in Wedding hair and makeup I knew the demand for professionalism in this part of the industry. After witnessing multiple artists in the industry “claiming” they could offer these services and failing miserably …. I knew I had to try to bridge the gap. I created Beautyop to offer like minded and talented artists a platform to show our community the difference between artists that specialized in this profession. I always tell people you would not spend $6k on your pictures for your wedding and then let someone offer you beauty services that “think they could probably do that”.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
BeautyOp is a collective of independent contractors that specialize in hair and makeup for events. Mentoring my team is absolutely my passion to bridge any gaps in understanding of techniques that guide our artists to success. We travel the US every year collecting knowledge from the industry leaders to better our teams back ground in the new up and coming trends. We truly believe the sky is the limit and our drive to do our best for every client is always top priority. Beauty Op offers trials for all of our brides to preview their big day look for hair, makeup or both.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Let me tell ya, social media wasn’t always my best friend. I would try to build up my FB and IG with photos everyday but I never felt like I was getting much traction. After many styled shoots with other local vendors I found my people! These people were just like me trying to share many posts. But what we learned together in networking within each other we are a stronger front for our communities brides. I will never turn down a styled shoot. Connecting with me community of vendors is so valuable not only for connecting with potential brides … but to also find your community that is probably having similar business wins or losses that you can relate to.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I started BeautyOp I wasn’t even convinced I could do it. Trust was a BIG problem for me at that time in my life and the thought of trusting in artists to just go out and deliver was scary for me. After speaking with my mentor Priscilla I took the leap of faith and jumped into my business plan Valentine’s Day of 2022. I am so glad I did! Not only do I love this little HMUA community but I also love the connections I have introduced that could form into life long friendships. I now work with girls on mentoring and new techniques very commonly introducing new structured ways to arrive at the goal of their styles. It has been very rewarding in the end.
