Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stephanie Morrone Waters. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Stephanie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents were always my biggest supporters in life. No matter what interest I had, sports, academic, creative, they always supported me in exploring these outlets. My parents bought me a point and shoot camera when I was about 8 years old and I have been shooting ever since!
They got me my first DSLR when I was 13 and to this day, I think of it as one of the best, most sentimental gifts I’ve ever received. It showed that my parents understood this was a passion of mine, and they were always supportive of my photography journey. That camera helped me learn the basics of photography and allowed me to grow into the photographer I am today!
Stephanie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi! My name is Stephanie Morrone Waters and I am a portrait photographer from New Jersey, now based out of Middletown, Connecticut!
I specialize in natural light outdoor portraits of individuals, couples, pets, and milestones. My editing style is dreamy, while also bold and colorful.
I particularly enjoy working with the LGBTQ+ community in my work. One of the most fundamental elements of my photographer is that I want to capture people authentically and unapologetically themselves.
I also love working with people of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. I believe in inclusivity and making people feel comfortable in front of the camera! Everyone deserves to feel beautiful in front of the camera!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is that I have the power to make other people feel special and beautiful. Not only in my images, but being able to create a space where clients feel comfortable being themselves around me is very important! I also love that I am able to tell people’s stories. We all have unique backgrounds and experiences, and I am grateful to be able to share these stories with other people through my photography.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I think non-creatives might struggle to understand just how deeply special my photography is to me. It’s so much more than just capturing images. It’s being able to preserve authentic moments of love, acceptance, and joy. Every session is different and an opportunity to share a new perspective.
