We were lucky to catch up with Stephanie Ledesma recently and have shared our conversation below.
Stephanie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
When I started my business I did not know what direction I wanted it to go in, I’ve always been a lover of music, and I thought that would be better than taking inspiration from that. So I went with Uneasy Hearts, named after the song Uneasy Hearts Weight the Most by Dance Gavin Dance
Stephanie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Stephanie I am 25 years old and live in Riverside, Ca I am the one woman that runs Shop Uneasy Hearts, shop uneasy hearts was created during hardship in my life I had just lost my job and was looking for something that would make me happy + bring in some extra cash, uneasy hearts started out as a small resin shop where I created occult/horror/pop culture themed resin items such as resin palettes for nail artists to use, ashtray, and earrings during this time I gained a following of ghouls (as I like to call them) that were buying items from me daily. It helped me get out of my head during this hard time in my life, my business brought a sense of purpose into my life which made me take it more serious, My shop is now 2 years old has gone through 2 serious rebrandings my most recent one was my biggest where I’ve even changed my photography style, color scheme this was after my shops first viral product video which brought us so much attention + following I was able to put money into getting new 3D Printers and a new Logo it brings me so much joy to put into my business knowing it will always give back to me. One thing that I think that sets me apart from others is how quickly I get my items out, handmade or not I have a turnaround time of less than a week and if you are lucky maybe even instantly after placing your order I have your items out the door. I think fast shipping makes my customers happy I even have some customers post proof of their order then a picture of their shipping notification immediately after because they are so excited, cute packaging also helps ;) , I am the most proud of creating a small community of people that enjoy shopping with me, and creating a brand for myself I can’t wait do
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I keep in touch with clients by building a friendship with them, I always take my clients opinions and ideas and to consideration and always make sure that they know that my business would not be anything if they weren’t there supporting me.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson that I had to unlearn is being jealous when someone is making some thing that is similar to you, I feel like everyone has jealousy in them. It is the most natural thing but if you know you’re jealous, you know you have to do something to change that behavior. I always like to remind myself that collaboration happens at the top. Nothing good happens at the bottom. I don’t have a backstory with this just simply a personal experience someone making something similar to you doesn’t take away from you!
