We were lucky to catch up with Stephanie Lauredent-Diasio recently and have shared our conversation below.
Stephanie, appreciate you joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
There’s A LOT they did right. My parents are the reason that I have a strong sense of self and the desire to support as many people as I can through my wellness businesses. When I think back on my toughest moments before starting my business, I often think about how supportive and encouraging my parents were. I feel incredibly blessed to have them in my life. During my toughest moments, my parents would tell me to keep going and to not be discouraged. They always would remind me to see past the present moment of difficulty in order to keep going.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Stephanie Lauredent-Diasio, Founder of That Black Doula and Ti Goute. As a doula and wellness coach, my mission revolves around providing families in birth and postpartum with personalized support (both in person and virtually) while taking the guesswork out of it all.
Through our recently launched reproductive snack line, Ti Goute, which means “little bite” in Haitian Creole, we craft small nourishing treats designed for every season of womanhood. Join the waitlist for snack drops at tigoutesnacks.com!
What I’m most proud of as a doula is being trusted by families. I love being able to empower families through birth education, to advocate for themselves, so that they can birth with confidence and thrive in postpartum.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I started building my audience on social media in 2020 through creating a wellness page on Instagram where I did weekly videos on a wellness topic. Those videos then expanded to focusing on yoga, meditation, reiki, coaching, and ultimately doula support. As I gained traction from there, I was able to support more families in birth and postpartum.
My advice for others just starting to build their social media presence is to keep showing up online. To just start where you are with what you have. Be patient and keep going. It’s how you build. Although it may feel like you’re throwing spaghetti at the wall for a bit, as you get a better understanding of what support your audience needs, the process of trying, and being willing to pivot, is what leads to expanding.

Have you ever had to pivot?
When I first started my business, I was supporting others as a career transition coach and yoga teacher and pivoted to becoming a doula and wellness coach when family and friends began asking me for prenatal yoga, birth prep and meditation support. I realized that there was a need for nervous system regulation in birth along with providing families with birth education so that they feel confident entering birth. I pivoted from coaching to doula support by working at a hospital and my business expanded from there.
