Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stephanie Joplin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Stephanie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I want to see other women win. I have this wish of abundance for all women. Even the women who, perhaps, don’t relate to me. When I manifest abundance, I do so with everyone else in mind. Seeing others genuinely happy and thriving has been my mission since becoming a serious content creator and curator of high-end crystals and minerals. I spend 14-16 hours a day curating, creating beautiful images and video, writing copy, sharing important information and discussing topics that some shy away from because it might be considered “controversial.” When women ask me for advice or I share a podcast, I want to be able to give them at least one tangible message that they can carry with them; that truly resonates with them. That they can keep in their back pocket and pull out on a rainy day. Of course, that advice is not exclusive to women! If we all can benefit, even better. I was never given the advice I genuinely needed with regards to interpersonal relationships; I have learned so much through my heartbreak, disappointment, depression, illness, anxiety… I could go on. But now I have the resources and experience to truly help my fellow woman and I could not be more excited. If I can make even one woman’s life easier, or more filled with joy, I will have succeeded!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My brand, Stephanie Joplin, started solely as a content creator for my own personal account. I still do brand partnerships, but my story then blossomed into a podcast called “The Luxury Dropout.” The name comes from the head-to-toe armor of high-end designer brands I used to wear. I thought others might not be able see how unhappy I was. In the past three years, I have reassessed my priorities, sold the majority of my designer pieces, and have been on a wellness journey every since. I have attended conferences, audited courses, taken study modules (including those in behavioral psychology), learned about living in 6D, and overcome most of my anxiety and trauma. I am finally at a place where I can support other women, which is my absolute dream.
GetGemsoned is my crystal and mineral business that was founded in May 2022. I have curated a collection of gorgeous specimens that are highly sought after by beginner and serious collectors alike. I also carry polished crystals and minerals for those who love the whimsical aesthetic. I was obsessed with small tumbles as a little girl. I remember I had this small acrylic case and was so proud. I carefully typed out the name of the stone and glued it inside the case in the corresponding slot. I can’t believe I am able to bring a childhood dream to life.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn that I should be concerned with the opinions of people who do not know me, personally. It is really difficult when someone makes an ugly comment, or an acquaintance I thought was a friend did not support me, or spoke ill of me behind my back. I learned that no one who is more beautiful, more successful, or more happy than I am will ever make me feel small; more importantly they would certainly never tell me they were “better than” I am. The ones who matter are the ones who truly love you. Your small group of friends, your family: their opinions matter. It is a difficult ego pill to swallow when someone comes for your neck online; you just have to handle it with grace, block, have a little cry if needed, and move on.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I worked in the hospitality industry for nearly a decade and a half. It was all I knew. It was what I was “good” at. However, I was so unfulfilled. I would cry on the way to work, groan when my alarm went off, sit in the parking lot and try to talk myself in to walking in to the building. It was hard on my mental health which I think is why I tried to fill the void with material things. I was so tired to do anything else because my energy was sucked out of me like a vampire every time I stepped foot into my corporate job. As fate would have it, I was laid off in the fall of 2020 due to the pandemic, and was presented with a huge opportunity: go back to the corporate life I despised, or take a leap of faith that would cost me my life savings. I chose the latter, and even though times get tough and there are certainly meltdowns a few times a month, I would not trade the decision I made for anything.
