We were lucky to catch up with Stephanie & Janice recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Stephanie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The idea for Coffee Socials started because we wanted to go beyond the analytical park of marketing. Although we’re well versed in all parts of marketing, we feel that the way you brand yourself visually is the most important thing. Working in corporate marketing, it was hard seeing bigger companies take that risk of putting more effort into their online presence. After years of being help back and tons of ideas shut down…it finally happened

Coffee Socials is a full-service Creative Agency with a boutique approach to producing visually and cerebral engaging written and photographic content that supports researched approaches to building brand familiarity. Our team of experienced creators in both the visual and text-focused spheres combine expertise, experience creating for virtual platforms, and a feel for your brand and its goals – to design strategic messaging your ideal customer will engage with continuously.

We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
We met through our families weirdly enough and became fast friends because of our love for photography. What always connected us was our love for traveling and capturing moments. After many years of expressing how much we both wanted to create content for brands under our own business name we finally went for it. It’s been such a rewarding journey

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Imagine pitching to one of the biggest hospitality firms in the city and it turns out the owner has no idea where the climate on social media stands so he shuts you down through the entire meeting. After we showed him what kind of content we could do and a lot of back and forth, he decides to work with us. He told us our prices were too cheap which was insane because would rates are more than fair for local businesses. We go and shoot the content, send him the invoice. After we gave him a fair price he suddenly decides we’re too expensive. Lesson here is nobody likes to work with indecisive people. It didn’t work out and we’re glad it didn’t.
