Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stephanie Hyland Junge. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Stephanie, appreciate you joining us today. Setting up an independent practice is a daunting endeavor. Can you talk to us about what it was like for you – what were some of the main steps, challenges, etc.
When I first started my business, I had just been attuned to Reiki and learning about shamanism and other spiritual energy healing tools. I started off giving sessions to family and friends, and slowly increasing the amount I charged for sessions. I had already been selling essential oils, but doing a Reiki business really requires you to step out on your own and establish your own practice. I’ve always been an entrepreneur at heart, so this was an easy and passionate step for me to make.
Some of my challenges were getting through my own limiting beliefs and fears. Fears of not being good enough or what if my gift doesn’t work for everybody, etc. I was also a new mom who had the privilege of staying home and being there for my daughters early years.
I found a place in town to start doing my in-person Reiki Sessions, I also started my online presence with Energy Healing, and doing distant sessions. Slowly I progressed as I created my Reiki certification courses and collaborated with friends to do workshops.
I enjoyed all challenges of my journey and even how slow it was because I had time with my family. But if I was to do anything different, I would have gotten a consistent mentor sooner, tackled my limiting beliefs earlier on, and invested more money into my business.
My advice to young professionals would be to really believe in themselves and that if it’s a true passion in their heart it’s meant to be. I would also highly recommend getting a mentor and somebody who is where you want to be because it will definitely expedite your journey and business.
Stephanie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
When someone asks me what got me started in my business I always say it’s a progression of lifetime experiences. From going out on my own to find God at 13, to learning about meditation in other religions in college, and opening my mind up to all the ways spirit can work. My more tangible introduction to my business happened when I was pregnant with my daughter back in 2016. I remember waking up every morning and my hands would be numb and full of energy. It would take 30 minutes for that sensation to dissipate. After that was happening for over a month I woke up one day and said, ”OK God I’ll go find somebody to get an attunement”. within a year I was certified as a Reiki Master, and had started working on clients and getting my business running.
Energy work can be hard to explain to people sometimes. Basically, I have been attuned to healing energy and have learned how to easily access my connection to source and spirit. I use this and channel it through my hands to provide healing for people, physically mentally, spiritually, and emotionally; Either in person or remotely.
Over the last several years, I have found my passion within Reiki to mentor students in my Reiki Mastery Blueprint where they can get proven methods to heal themselves, get attuned, learn Reiki, have community, and have one-on-one access with me as they build a vision and plan for their business. I created this as I saw my clients, struggling to grasp a hold of how their unique gifts will work within Reiki, and how they will create or enhance a business with this skill. It’s an accelerated program that gets them to Reiki Master in just 4 months.
One thing I’m super proud of, and I hear from my clients all the time is that they feel they get more knowledge and a deeper connection and this online program than they do in most in person Reiki programs. I really care about each student that comes through my course, and how Reiki and the tools in my program can get them to the next level. This is more than just an online program and making my clients feel like this is truly their healing, their journey, and their vision coming to life.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Unhealthy money attachments and beliefs! Over the last several years, I have found the limiting beliefs that were really holding me back in my life and business. I’ve reset my mindset and emotions to truly believe that money only makes you what you already are, and that it doesn’t have to be difficult and life-consuming to attain. Most recently, I’ve opened up to investing in myself on a BIG level that really puts me out of my comfort zone but is proving to me the value of you get what you put in and it will all come back to you – maybe even ten fold :)
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Word-of-mouth, networking, and really caring about the services I provide. When you have a small business and one that is based purely on the services you provide, it requires you to hold a certain level of integrity and quality of service. With Reiki, I have learned to be a great vessel for healing energy to travel through. I’ve always been very careful not to say ‘I’M” doing the healing. I’ve been attuned and done the inner and outer work to be able to channel Source energy. I believe this acknowledgement reminds my ego that it’s not me, and it also empowers my clients to start learning that we all have the ability to heal ourselves. Networking has also been a great way to build my community and reputation. Early on, I was a member of the local Chamber of Commerce, I attended networking groups, and even went into the online space to build community. It has been a crucial part of my business and one that I personally love.
