We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Stephanie Hicks a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Stephanie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission as a boudoir photographer is to help empower women. It’s very healing for me to help women gain their self confidence and gain self love within themselves. Us women can be our own worst enemies and society paints this picture that we need to be skinny, tall and have a big chest in order to be beautiful and that’s not true! As a young child I was bullied heavily for my looks and appearance which is huge reason I enjoy uplifting other women to see the beauty that lies within them!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into photography at a very young age and it has always been my passion. Starting out with nature photos and quickly turning into photographing families which then lead me to learning about the art of boudoir. I provide a safe and welcoming environment for my clients to be their authentic selves, taking the time to learn about them and what they like and dislike about themselves. Taking what I know and helping them fall inlove with their insecurities. I provide their favorite snacks and drinks the day of their session, a personalized gift for them to leave with. I pamper you fully with hair and makeup before your session starts, during your session it’s high energy and exciting. It takes approximately 2 weeks for your viewing appointment, here you will be able to choose your images you’d like to keep and any products you’d like to buy (albums, canvases, prints etc.) You will receive a full luxury service.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What’s helped me build my reputation is being my authentic self and having a very supportive and opened space for others to also be themselves.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media has always been a struggle for me but I have found that being myself and showing up and continuing to post and be active has helped grow my audience and clientele.
