We were lucky to catch up with Stephanie Geismar recently and have shared our conversation below.
Stephanie, appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learned about fragrance initially through my mother, who has always been a lover of fragrance herself. I grew up stealing her fragrances and going shopping with her. During the pandemic, I became obsessed with watching YouTube videos about fragrances for hours, it was my escape and proved very therapeutic. After a year of sampling, learning and starting my own collection, I decided to begin my own fragrance content. I figured, I’m just as passionate as anyone else about smells!
Stephanie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Smell good: Feel good! I make fragrance content on Tik Tok, Instagram and Youtube! I post most days, reviewing different scents and helping people to find new loves. I also make a lot of educational videos discussing the ins and outs of the fragrance world, teaching newbies how to start a collection and find what works for them. There are so many fragrances, it can be very overwhelming! I like to think my content is a gateway to navigate the scented world successfully. I cover all designer, affordable and niche scents, as well as body care and home fragrance. I also do personal fragrance consults, where I give clients a curated list of fragrances according to their specific needs. Basically, if you enjoy smelling good in any way shape or form, you’ll love my content!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
One of my biggest goals is to create my own fragrance to share with my amazing audience. I would love to share a piece of myself with those I connect with online and with the world through scent. Crafting my own fragrance brand would be the ultimate dream!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
As a Cancer Survivor, part of my journey has also been showing others facing health crises that they can be confident and still enjoy life. I’ve connected with so many other young women fighting cancer who struggle with their confidence, and find joy in fragrance. One of my favorite things is to send them cute perfume care packages to brighten up their days. Fragrance is such an empowering and joyful part of life for me, it makes me my heart feel so full when I can share that with others.
