Responsible Decision-Making: Making sound decisions based on careful consideration of the facts and potential consequences is important for success. This includes taking responsibility for one’s actions.
Effective Communication: Good communication skills are essential, whether you’re working with a team, leading others, or building relationships. Listening and expressing ideas clearly are key components of effective communication.
Networking: Building and nurturing a network of relationships can open doors to opportunities and resources that contribute to success.
Positive Attitude: A positive attitude and a belief in your own abilities can fuel motivation and resilience when facing challenges.
Time Management: The ability to prioritize tasks, set deadlines, and manage time efficiently is crucial for productivity and achieving your goals.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce your business and give our readers some of your background and context?
Stephs Beauty Planet is currently a leading force in the beauty industry as we offer hair and makeup services by “Defining Beauty From Your Perspective”. My goal is to ensure my clients feel comfortable and confident with how they choose to express beauty.” I first learned how to braid hair when I was a little girl. My older sister Ursla and I would play with dolls’ hair and she eventually taught me how to do three strand individual braids. Whenever my mom would take my older sister and I to the saloon to get our hair done, I would watch. I had no idea I was also learning. Eventually, my mom opened up a saloon in 2013 called Royalty salon in Lagos Nigeria and I watched her workers as well. I began Stephs beauty planet in 9th grade where I styled and braided my classmates and girls dorm’s hairs every weekend. I had not named it then. I eventually named my brand in 2017 and also opened an Instagram page. It was formerly known as Stephs Hair world until I added the makeup aspect of it. Then I changed the name to Stephs beauty planet. I believe my brand is going places. I have put in consistent effort over the years to build a good client base and I have worked with artists, Fashion shows and also Film projects. I believe it’s going to the next level soon. I hope to expand to other states and countries and possibly back home in Nigeria. I am just working and watching to see what God is doing with my brand.
Have you ever had to pivot?
A huge pivot for me was when i moved to the US by myself at the very tender age of 16. Not having any physical help or assistance or anybody to help me navigate through life. The first move was to Tennessee and four years later I moved to Texas where my business Stephs Beauty Planet grew so much. Found great people and so far it has been a great place for me. These would not have happened if I did not take risks or make a decision to pivot.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most is effective strategy for growing my clientele is networking. As networking has opened so many doors of influence. Building and nurturing a network of relationships has a natural ability to open doors to opportunities and resources that contribute to a successful clientele increase. I try to stay friendly while providing great service for my clients so when they remember all these factors, they comeback and also refer other clients that eventually do the same. This has definitely helped my client retention and expansion.
