We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stephanie Dawn. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stephanie below.
Stephanie , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
I haven’t worked at a job since 2001. I knew, after graduating from Spiritual Practitioner Training courses in 1999 and 2000 in Los Angeles at the Agape International Spiritual Center under the direction of Reverend Micheal Bernard Beckwith, that I would be a spiritual counselor and coach and never look back and I haven’t. I LOVE being an entrepreneur. I have surrounded myself with success coaches and mentors who could help me elevate my career and my finances. Eight years ago I took on a network marketing opportunity. I worked it along side of my business coaching. It found me I wasn’t looking for it! But once I learned about the business model coupled with the organic superfoods I was enjoying I knew I could leverage it all and leave the dollars for hours matrix of earning. I stopped business coaching over a year ago and I won’t be returning. I love network marketing, I love building community and it’s just much better suited to my personality and I have a very large global network that spans my spiritual, business, environmental activist and cancer communities. When you are a business coach you are a solopreneur and are responsible for so much. With network marketing the company you work with has a lot of systems in place that support you, and you work in community which I absolutely love. If I have to step out for health reasons, which I have had to do a lot over the last five years as I navigate a breast cancer diagnosis that morphed into Stage 4 into my bones a year ago, I have relied on my team, my upline and my downline to keep working and they have. We are like a family and I have been earning great income even when I haven’t been able to show up for work. That’s the beauty of this business model. I am so grateful. It’s like financial insurance and no other business model can offer that, unless we are talking investments such as stocks and real estate.
Stephanie , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have always cared about our environment, organic living, food and farming and used to live on an organic farm 30 years ago. So when I found my organic superfoods business Purium, I was elated as it was in direct alignment with my heart and my values and I could work it alongside of my sacred business coaching. As I am now retiring the business coaching to focus on building in the network marketing realm I still get to business coach, just in a different capacity. I now have a large global team rather than 1:1 clients. And I recently started a molecular hydrogen business this past November. I began learning in earnest about molecular hydrogen in September 2023, when we found out the breast cancer had come back and was now in my bones and causing me a lot of pain. The science was solid on how it can help folks like me but I was very interested in how it can help prevent cancer and many diseases and so I invested in this brand new company called LumiVitae that is located in Portugal and is global in scope. It’s ground floor, I already have a large team working under me after building in a very mellow way for the past 8 months as I navigated my health, and I am excited to grow it to be a very very large organization.
What I am most proud of is that I worked to heal the appearance of cancer in my body in a natural way for the first five years of the diagnosis and I was able to work, care for my kids and travel. With the Covid years and the mandatory vaccines, which I rejected vehemently for myself and my children, I constantly felt I was battling the system, my family, my ex husband, the Governor of California and even the President of the United States who called people like me a “domestic terrorist”! Outrageous! Simply for claiming my own and my kids bodily autonomy and sovereignty. In the past, our health choices and history were private, between patient and doctor, but in the Covid years, everyone wanted to know if you were jabbed. It was insanity to me and no ones business! I felt like it was me against the world and sadly, the breast cancer metastasized to my bones. I had to pivot to live and began a rare therapy known as Metronomic Low Dose Chemotherapy. I found a wonderful and yes, rebel doctor who runs his own clinic in the International District of Seattle. He has been lauded for his success by his patients but the medical establishment still doesn’t understand what he is up to. Think microdosing for mushrooms and this may help. Every week I go to receive the “healing juices” I call them. I have about 1/7th of what standard chemo patients would be taking into their body. My immune system has remained strong and the side effects are minimal. I will be doing this for about a year until I receive the diagnosis NED or “No Evidence of Disease”.
I am healing, no longer in pain and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel so I can continue to spend time with my kids, travel again and build my businesses and truly thrive again. I have a lot of hope and through my social media sharing many follow me because my path is unique and they know I am a sacred rebel and only follow my heart and my own inner authority. In a world where most want to be told what to medically I definitely am the captain of my own ship! So my businesses now are directly connected to my own health path, all that I have learned in the cleansing, detoxing and healing cancer realm. This is a true joy for me to serve in this way and earning a living doing this is the icing on the vegan, sugar free and gluten free cake!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I have been on Facebook since 2008. Years ago, when I was a spiritual practitioner of my church and pregnant, I began a workshop called Sacred Birth ~ Moving from Fear to Faith. It was as much for me as for my community. I wanted to bring spiritual practices into the birth realm as so many fearful stories were coming to me and I just didn’t buy it, knowing what I know about the power of the mind and creating our own reality. I started a group called Sacred Birth on Facebook and invited 25 people. Overnight it grew to 300 members and I was blown away. I truly saw the power of this social network to further this concept and work to a whole new audience and I began to use all the tools Facebook had to promote my workshops. I elevated my business to a global level with the Sacred Birth Mentor Program and created a lot of success in those early days thanks to Facebook. I even taught a Facebook workshop to my friends and colleagues I was having so much fun there professionally.
Instagram has been more challenging as I wasn’t so keen on making reels and the sort of “look at me” way of promoting myself. I have slowly become more comfortable on Instagram but it’s taken a long time and a lot of coaching. I love seeing all the creativity on Instagram and it can be a lot of fun. But at 59 it’s just not my chosen medium. I prefer painting lol! I enjoy Facebook more and I guess I am just more of an intellectual or something? I love to have conversations and so I do like talking into my stories on Instagram, giving and being interviewed, and having it go over to Facebook. I have many following the cancer journey I am on because it is so unique and people are constantly inspired by what I share and my courage. I am simply following my heart and my gut about the way forward and rejecting what doesn’t resonate and I love that my sharing that empowers others to do the same.
Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
Yes, several years back in 2015 or 2016 I was working with a business coach who encouraged me to double my prices. She knew what I was offering and knew my financial goals and really encouraged me to go for it. It was so scary. Not so much with new business coaching prospects but with my current clients who wanted to keep working with me. At the time I had to have these very difficult conversations about my new fees. One woman started crying! “How am I going to keep my business going without you?” Of course I wanted to keep working with her but she couldn’t see how to keep working with me. Now in retrospect she could have doubled her prices to keep working with me! Another client worked in the prosperity world and just couldn’t make it happen to keep working with me. That was fascinating I thought. Finally, one of my clients surprised me and said “I see what you are up to, I see where you are going and I am going to get creative to continue to afford to work with you” That made my day! It took a lot of guts to have these conversations and to this day I don’t shy away from big money conversations. I have come so far. I have never been in business for the money. It’s just not what inspires me but I do like a certain lifestyle and so that takes money. And these days it takes a lot of money, what with inflation etc. That’s why I love network marketing because so many are looking for a side hustle and with my business coaching expertise I am a dreamy upline!
