We recently connected with Stephanie Dana George and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Stephanie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
As a photographer, I’ve had many opportunities to be a part of meaningful projects. But the first that pops in my mind is my “Dancer Series.” Once or twice a year, I take dancers to different areas and let them show me their art. I take individual and group photos. I’ve been a dancer as well since age 3, so seeing this beauty and passion form in front of my camera is inspiring. I love watching dancers who may not even know one another come together to form incredible images. And my heart often skips a beat as I push the button on my camera knowing I’ve captured a true art form.
Stephanie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have loved photography since I was old enough to hold a camera. I carried my camera everywhere and documented everything I could – from the birthday girl blowing out her candles to a lady bug I saw on a leaf. My friends and family all know that if I am around… prepare for photos to be taken.
After taking many photography classes throughout high school and gaining experience in professional settings, I decided that photography was going to be a part of my life no matter what and I opened Photos By Stephanie. I’ve been in business for over 20 years.
I offer EVERYTHING! Any type of photography you need, I’m your girl. If it’s something I’ve never done, I’ll study and prepare myself to do the best job I possibly can. I LOVE photography. I love people. I love capturing memories and giving people something they can hold on to FOREVER!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Definitely! It’s a big goal, but I want to experience everything I can from behind my lens! Literally EVERYTHING! I love doing family photos, babies, seniors, events, weddings, boudoir, headshots, sports, etc. But, I also want to photograph things that people may not think of a photographer for — are you taking a class to become a yoga teacher and need photos for your branding? Need someone to come along on a trip with you to document those memories? Are you a hunter and want a photographer there? Do you race? Is your daughter an incredible artists and you want photos of her in her element? What are your ideas? LET’S DO IT!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Seeing beauty all around me, every single day. Meeting new people and also clients that I update their photos every year and watch their families grow.
Capture a moment that my clients can look back on forever.
Challenge myself to do new things and be creative.
Live in the now!
Share my perspective, my passion, my thoughts on beauty.
The emotional, creative and mental outlet it gives me.
