Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stephanie Brown Kegler. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Stephanie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
i started teaching Zumba in Dec 2009 at Pine Forest Rec Center on Saturdays only. I joined a group of phenomenal woman called the Da’ville Girlz and we traveled, did different events etc. During that time I was still trying to get people comfortable with being a Christian and dancing. So during class I would scream, “Let’s go, give it your all, it’s ok this is Dancing Without Sin! We are not drinking, smoking or saying ugly things so it’s ok!” I yelled this during every class, made banners stating we are just Dancing Without Sin for about 6 years. I separated from my spouse and was sitting in my apartment all alone. Confused, sad almost depressed. Two months went by and literally I woke up (it was like the Lord thumped me on my forehead) and I heard DANCING WITHOUT SIN® the business can save lives! I grabbed a notebook I keep beside my bed and I just started writing out a plan. If I changed the music and movements I could get the churches moving. I then met with my very close business circle and pushed out the idea, they started assisting with logos, flyers, business and trademark forms etc. Everything went so fast and before I knew it I was a business owner.
I then immediately wanted to start reaching out but I didn’t have to. The community started sending churches and religious organizations to me. Now parishioners including Pastors are waving their hands and moving to the beat. It’s the beat they are most comfortable with and I love it! That’s how I can help save God’s people by making them realize doing all these great and wonderful things to help others is beautiful but if you are not helping yourself to stay healthy you will not be able to build God’s Kingdom.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

# MOVEPEOPLE
The # MOVEPEOPLE Movement started during COVID. We had to figure out how to keep everyone moving while at home. So on-line we were all in our homes still meeting everyday and moving on the screen. I would scream, “I don’t care if you are in your living room, MOVEMENT PEOPLE!!” You will now see everyone rocking the infamous bright yellow # MOVEPEOPLE t-shirts and hoodies.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I am currently on Facebook, Instagram, Linked in, You Tube and TikTok Facebook and Instagram was built by posting consistent class pics and videos. Small snippets of what the class is engaging in with awesome music is always a plus. Also when my audience see students in their age bracket it creates motivation.
My You tube has increased drastically because of the shorts posted. I finally realized everyone is looking for short vids to watch and that are engaging.
TikTok was built on skits, music videos, trends, work-outs and challenges. Posting anything the audience can be involved in usually works. Engaging with the audience such are responses on their comments and duets goes over really well. I have made many sells through tiktok followers. They would surprise me and do a video wearing #MOVEPEOPLE Merch.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Being believable. When you are a woman of your word and never waiver then the public always know exactly what they are getting. I show how much I care by giving back. Every year I have a Health & Fitness Cancer Awareness Event. This year it is Sept 16th. Once I choose my charity I begin selling tickets to the event, obtain sponsors and vendors and proceeds raised go to the charity chosen for the year. We do a 2hr work-out, provide refreshments, Cancer survivors speak and it’s just a beautiful time.
The community is used to me doing this every year and they always support because they know I am going to do exactly what I said I would do, give back. I make no money from the event but this event makes me extra rich in other ways! (showing up and showing out for Cancer survivors)
I have just opened my Brick and Mortar as of March 2, 2023 THE DANCING WITHOUT SIN® MOVEMENT CENTER
I can now Coach/Train, cook and help those that need a safe space.
