We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Stephanie Agudelo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie , thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
As an artist, the journey is filled with moments of doubt, but also moments where you feel on top of the world. Despite the uncertainty, pursuing your passion is worth every moment of your time. Keep taking risks, pushing boundaries, and creating from your heart. In the end, it’s the pursuit of your dreams that makes life truly meaningful. Keep going, your art matters more than you know.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Populoum’s mission 💫
– is to sell unique contemporary art financially accessible to everyone!!Whether you are an emerging artist yourself, art collector, maker, supporting the hustle, or simply just have a passion for the art itself.🎨 💞
– creating a digital and physical platform for emerging and striving artists! 🗣️
– enlarging on transferable skills that can be used in other aspects of their practice or even other jobs e.g. accuracy, timeliness, professionalism, writing about their own artwork, making proposals, installing art, etc.🔨
– orchestrating an experience you haven’t experienced before. I aim to make these events memorable for anyone who was involved and viewers.👀
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Starting my journey as an art curator, I learned the invaluable lesson of letting go of people-pleasing and prioritizing my vision. In the world of business, especially in the arts, opinions will always be abundant. But I discovered, staying true to my purpose – creating a platform for emerging artists and fostering a vibrant community – is what truly matters. I want to keep building, keep curating, and keep nurturing that community. My dedication is shaping a brighter future for emerging artists and art lovers alike.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
As an art curator, one of the most rewarding aspects of this journey is the opportunity to uplift and support emerging artists on their path to success. My role goes beyond just showcasing their work; it’s about providing a platform, amplifying their voices, and nurturing their talent. Every opportunity I create is a stepping stone for these artists to reach new heights. I want to continue championing their work, and together, we can inspire and enrich the world through art.
